5.0 out of 5 stars So far so GREAT...
I learned about this printer from the good reviews on [...], and although it had no reviews (yet) on amazon I decided to give it a shot. I purchased through Price Pros (shipping was much cheaper than others). Item arrived on time. Printer is heavy, so if you're looking for something small and "easily stashable" then this probably isn't for you. I use it for my home...

1.0 out of 5 stars xerox phaser 6280. Run away. Do not consider.
I needed a good quality color printer to handle medium sized print jobs. I though Xerox would be a good professional brand. I selected this model based on the published specs. That was June 29, 2010.

Upon arrival the printer would not print red. Customer service sent a new cartridge. No change. The tech came out and couldn't fix it. He and the engineer...

5.0 out of 5 stars So far so GREAT..., August 8, 2009
This review is from: Xerox Phaser 6280 Color Laser Printer (Personal Computers)
I learned about this printer from the good reviews on [...], and although it had no reviews (yet) on amazon I decided to give it a shot. I purchased through Price Pros (shipping was much cheaper than others). Item arrived on time. Printer is heavy, so if you're looking for something small and "easily stashable" then this probably isn't for you. I use it for my home office (moderate use) and was sick of spending a fortune on ink jet cartridges so I personally don't care about the size. Setup took about 15 mins (actually pretty simple if you know how to follow directions) and I have it hooked up through an old apple airport wireless router.

Currently have an iMac at the house and use a PC for work (still dreaming for the day when my office will make the switch to Mac). This printer works great on both and setup was just as easy on the windows machine. I wish I had more drama to write about, but it simply works like a charm. Prints fantastic and VERY fast. After about 15 minutes of being idle, it goes into sleep mode and the little green light comes on letting me know it's ready for action. Warmup time is about 6 seconds (much quicker than my old hp inkjet). I've read that some laser printers will suck all of the power out of a circuit (dimming lights, etc) and this one is plugged in with all of my entertainment system and I have no problems with it. I've only had it a week, so may need to write more later. I don't print a ton of photos on my printer (why waste $ when I can order professional prints for $0.05 online?), but I do print a ton of color documents. So far I love it and feel great about the purchase. -good job Xerox

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Color Copier for Home business, February 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Xerox Phaser 6280 Color Laser Printer (Personal Computers)
Good.
1. Good paper feed.
2. Easy to setup (my printer is wired to my wireless apple router)
3. Works well with Macs (tiger and leopard) and PC (windows xp, although it take longer to setup the windows)
4. Fairly quiet operation and silent sleep mode.

Bad.
1. You have to pull out the large plastic front cover to feed cards, envelopes ect. and it is a bit of pain
2. Heavy stock comeout bit curled.
3. Color quality while very good, I am sure is better on other color printers.

Conclusion.
1. This is my second color printer (I returned the first due to noise of operation) and I will keep this one.
2. I would recommend this printer to most home/small business use.

1.0 out of 5 stars xerox phaser 6280. Run away. Do not consider., September 17, 2010
This review is from: Xerox Phaser 6280 Color Laser Printer (Personal Computers)
I needed a good quality color printer to handle medium sized print jobs. I though Xerox would be a good professional brand. I selected this model based on the published specs. That was June 29, 2010.

Upon arrival the printer would not print red. Customer service sent a new cartridge. No change. The tech came out and couldn't fix it. He and the engineer decided to replace the printer. THREE WEEKS LATER I received the new printer. It would not align the black print with color. Many tech visits and replacement parts later, the problem is not fixed. In the meantime, I have to keep calling customer service after each tech visit because there is NO FOLLOW UP from the company. If I don't call and complain nothing happens.

It is now September 17, 2010 and I asked for the unit to be replaced. Customer Service can only send out another tech. It will no doubt take another few weeks when or if I receive a working printer. So THREE MONTHS after buying a XEROX Phaser 6280, I still cannot print. I expected so much better from a name brand company. I won't make the mistake of buying XEROX again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Initial Reactions: Fantastic, May 2, 2011
This review is from: Xerox Phaser 6280 Color Laser Printer (Personal Computers)
INITIAL REACTION:
I purchased this printer through documentio.com for $355, no tax and free FedEx shipping. It arrived just three days later, and now that I've set it up in my office, I'm extremely pleased after putting it through the paces. My initial reaction is that I'm very impressed, but only after making the proper adjustments to the printer settings:

1) Set the paper type to the kind you are using, if it isn't the default plain paper. I use glossy laser paper from HP for color pamphlets, brochures, etc.
2) On a Mac, you can set up an alternative print preset profile for color printing, which should change the color adjustment to CYMK rather than RGB, since this is a four-ink printer rather than three-ink. If you leave it on RGB, prints will come out with a slightly red cast. In addition to using CYMK ("Generic CYMK" on the menu), choose "Enhanced" color rather than "Standard" and set the Screening option to "Fineness" rather than "Automatic."
3) To reduce fan noise, use the on-printer menu to reduce the wait for Energy Saver mode from the 30 minute default to the 5 minute default if this is in your own office. If you are sharing, a longer period makes sense, but if you are like me, you do not print tons of documents in every half hour of your day. In Energy Saver mode, it is dead silent.
4) Use the on-printer Admin menu to turn off the automatic printing of a diagnostic/configuration page every time the printer is powered up.

Even when I'm not using glossy laser paper for graphics, I'm very impressed by what the same driver settings (minus the glossy paper setting) can produce, even on relatively cheap 20lb, 92 brightness Hammermill Great White Copy Paper that my office stocks. Text is dark and sharp, and photos and graphics are solid and opaque. This is just a fantastic deal for a color laser printer, especially at the 350-380 price point that you can find with some searching. Definitely find a vendor with free shipping, though, as this beast weighs 53 pounds.

UPDATES TO FOLLOW.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware PCNation Sales Tax Gimmick, December 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Xerox Phaser 6280 Color Laser Printer (Personal Computers)
The Xerox 6280 is an excellent color printer and it arrived on time and in good condition.

But I was disappointed with the vendor, PCNation. When ordering there was no sales tax shown on the Amazon site. But, the next day I received a phone call from PCNation telling me that they had to collect sales tax - PCNation is in IL and I am in CA so I was a little suspicious. The price displayed on the Amazon site should have included any sales tax since the vendor knew they would be shipping to CA. PCNation asked for my credit card number so that they could charge me an additional $40 outside the Amazon site. After some thought - Amazon says never pay a vendor directly - I decided to go ahead with the purchase even though I felt this was a scam. I would never buy anything from PCNation again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great printer, but didn't last, December 9, 2011
This review is from: Xerox Phaser 6280 Color Laser Printer (Personal Computers)
I bought this printer in the summer of 2009 and it worked great for 2 years. Excellent print quality, though the toner cartridges are very expensive. I only had to replace the toner cartridges one time, so that was not too bad. Recently, I began to get a CRUM error, which required restarting the printer. Then I had an MCU error, which indicates a problem with the computer board. Long story short, the printer will cost more then a new one to fix, and Xerox says we should have purchased the service contract for $129 a year, otherwise too bad. I would not buy another Xerox printer. Way too much money to have lasted such a short time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice for a home office, August 15, 2011

As a former print shop owner I know the quality of the Xerox phasers copiers. I have been eyeballing this smaller version printer for quite some time but the price tag always stopped me. I just purchased one thru amazon at a 55% discount, it took minutes to install as simple as any other type of printer you use in your home or office. The quality is more then I expected for such a small machine and had i known it was on par with a larger one I would have been willing to pay full price. Excellent choice for a home school parent not wanting to burn thru lots of injet cartridges or a small office. Well worth the investment. Xerox has excellent customer support too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Price for a quality Itwm, April 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Xerox Phaser 6280 Color Laser Printer (Personal Computers)
Item was purchased for Home use. It was shipped to me in heavy duty carton well protected. The only problem in set up was a demand from Mfg. for a dealer purchase name. It would not accept "Other" as a source of purchase so I had to pick a dealers name in my area.

I ran a poster job on Kodak gloss photo paper right after setup. I have received nothing but rave reviews on the color to date. It did it's job on a high quality paper with out one stop during the poster run. Great machine. I highly recommend it.

Next challenge will be getting reasonable color refills for it. Amazon did send several sources for these and at reasonable prices.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Printer, August 27, 2011

The printer works great! The printer is extremely fast in either or color or black and white. The colors are clear and vibrant. It does make more noise than an ink jet, but is not nearly as loud as my previous Brother laser printer. It can take up 30 seconds to start up after it goes into sleep mode, but once it is "awake", it prints very fast! Set up was extremely easy with one exception. The included set up disk did not successfully set up the drivers with our wireless network and Windows 7 computers. I downloaded the latest drivers, and everything worked great. This is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars do not buy, September 24, 2010
This review is from: Xerox Phaser 6280 Color Laser Printer (Personal Computers)
We purchased this printer less than a year ago. At the time we used Windows Vista. We changed computers and now have Windows 7. The computer cannot find the printer. When we reinstall the driver it can print a test page, but then will not print anything after that. Countless hours have been wasted on this problem to fix a printer that was not cheap to begin with. We called the customer service and after speaking with a woman who knows less about this printer than we do, we were told that this printer is no longer under warranty, and we would have to pay $25 to speak to her any longer. (Since she was so helpful to begin with). Do not buy this or any other xerox printer! I have a little Lexmark that has been happily chugging along for years.
