5.0 out of 5 stars small wonder
I was skeptical at first: how could a product deliver color printing, copying and scanning for such a cheap price? Since it was from Xerox, I decided to take a chance. The 35c has proved to be a fantastic and easy to use product. Print quality is great and color copies are also top-notch. Highly recommended

3.0 out of 5 stars My impressions of this machine
This unit requires a bit more set up effort, including the software, than most other printers I have purchased. But once you are done, it works well and is very quiet. Although it is much slower printing and scanning than my HP 4p scanjet and epson 600 inkjet which it is replacing. But, it does have much improved resolution and it is a great space saver on your desk...

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent legacy device., July 11, 2000

I do not own this machine, but I did demo it along with another, more expensive, HP multi-function device, and the Xerox WorkCentre XK35C won hands down. The only problems I found with the 35C were (1) Relative to the more expensive machines, the printing was somewhat slower, however the quality was far superior and (2) I contacted Xerox about the availability of Windows 2000 drivers and they told me that they would not not be releasing Win2k drivers for the 35c because of its age. So, if you have no plans to upgrade past Win 98 or Win NT 4.0, then this would be an excellent product for you. This would be an ideal product for a small business owner or college student. Overall the print quality is superior to that of other inkjet printers and other multi-purpose devices and the cost is less than many inkjet printers. If you have plans to upgrade to Windows 2000, I suggest waiting to buy the newer version of this device that Xerox said they should be releasing by the end of the summer.

5.0 out of 5 stars If I coud rate this ten stars I would, March 8, 2000
This review is from: Xerox WorkCentre XK35C Inkjet Multifunction (Office Product)
I bought the XK35c based primarily on the Xerox name and I have not been disappointed. After I got everything set up and the software loaded I started having trouble with the printer. I called Xerox Customer Support Center. After some poking and prodding it was determined by the rep that I still had my old Canon Printer installed. We were able to take care of that and it has been perfect ever since. The printer is producing material that looks like it came from a Laser Printer. I would recommend the XK35c to anyone who needs an inexpensive Printer/copier for a small business or home use. I don`t think you will be able to fine anything that will beat it. Also Xerox customer support center is great they go the extra mile to help.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Teriffic Xerox Product, March 26, 2000

I have owned a Hewlett Packard 682c Color Printer for 4 years and after the warranty ran out, had nothing but problems, I also bought a Cannon 620U scanner 6 months ago, and had nothing but trouble with their TWAIN drivers, so I sold both and bought the Xerox XK35c Workcenter from Best Buy, I have had no problems like the other guy from Columbus, Ohio and had he read the manual their is troubleshooting tips for correcting the white streaks. After using this Xerox product I will never buy another Cannon scanner or Hewlett Packard printer again.

3.0 out of 5 stars My impressions of this machine, July 31, 2000

This unit requires a bit more set up effort, including the software, than most other printers I have purchased. But once you are done, it works well and is very quiet. Although it is much slower printing and scanning than my HP 4p scanjet and epson 600 inkjet which it is replacing. But, it does have much improved resolution and it is a great space saver on your desk. The stand alone copy function is helpful. You can copy, even in color, without booting up the whole computer system. On the downside, however, the machine is prone to make my windows 98 operating system freeze up, when I try multiple tasks or "fax from printer" with it or give it too many printing tasks, too rapidly. The pagis pro software is very helpful and has some unexpected functions such as " filling in forms" capability and great "OCR". The print cartridges are a bit spendy...but they look like they should print more documents per cartridge than most other inkjets. All in all this machine should be well worth the money at...and don't plan to go to windows 2000 operating system which this machine will not handle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why buy a typical InkJet Printer?, April 22, 2000

I have had my new printer for 2 weeks now, and it is every thing that I expected. I have scanned odd shaped documents, as well as copied a bunch of stuff. Slower to copy color than I anticipated, but the quality was excellent. Great for projects of all kinds

5.0 out of 5 stars I scream for the 35c, January 27, 2000

Quite simply, the Xerox 35c is a tremendously efficient and dependable product with a reasonable price tag. Who could ask for anything more? As an owner of a small ice cream shop in Butte, Montana, I use the 35c regularly to print daily menus, attractive advertising flyers, and money-saving coupons for my loyal customers. They often comment on the professional look of my advertising and promotions material, which reflects nicely on my business. Though I attribute my ice cream parlor's success to my special flavor, "Double Chocolate Cashew Crunch," I also give much credit to the 35c. It's a lifesaver for any small business owner.

5.0 out of 5 stars XK35C, Great value for your money!, January 15, 2001
By
This review is from: Xerox WorkCentre XK35C Inkjet Multifunction (Office Product)
If you're looking for an inexpensive color inkjet printer with a flatbed scanner, this is a great printer for the price. Notice I do not say cheap, because this printer is a great performer, not mediocre in any way. The other similar printer that Amazon sells, is at last check, 2 1/2 times the cost of this printer.

It has drawbacks, but then again if we had the money and desk space we would all buy a $7,000 Tektronix (now Xerox) Phaser color laser printer with a $3,000 scanner. Seen for what it is, no one can come close to this printer on features and price, with better than adequate performance. Yes, print quality is a little worse than the competition, and it is painfully slow if you need to make many color copies. It should also be noted that the scanning unit produces much better quality scans than scanners found for under $50 after rebate. The colors when performing a color copy are true straight out of the box, and even if they weren't, this printer and many different ones like it can always be calibrated manually. You CAN make a B&W copy of a color page, speeding up copy speed dramatically and saving you money (The competition has a review that says you can't do that on theirs).

For the price of the competition you can get a great $300 PHOTO inkjet printer with a mid-range $200 scanner, and THAT will knock the socks off that other printer.

With this printer you get a lot more than you expect for the price. This printer is a GREAT VALUE!

I haven't actually purchased this machine yet; I just wanted to let anyone who cares know that I just contacted Xerox and found out they have released a print driver for Windows 2000 for this machine. It is available on their web site for free download.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Truth About the Unit, August 27, 2001
By
This review is from: Xerox WorkCentre XK35C Inkjet Multifunction (Office Product)
I'm writing this to put all the facts about this machine straight, especially given the number of erroneous comments in the prior so called 'reviews' by people who have no idea what they're doing. I own this unit (frankly I question if some of the other reviewers actually do) and recently replaced it with a HP PSC 750xi multifunction (it works in Win XP after a little slight of hand) and will compare below. First, the unit DOES have Win2k drivers located both on the CD and on their website as well as a BIOS update. Second, please note, the Win2k drivers DO NOT work in Windows XP (Microsoft's next OS) and it is unlikely there will ever be working XP drivers as Xerox is pulling out fo the small business market. Just something to keep in mind when considering purchasing this unit. As to an on/off button. Please people look at the rear of your unit. It has a switch that turns it off and then on. It's very common these days. This unit DOES not require more setup than other units. You just plug in the USB cable provided and point Windows to the CD/drivers. That's it. *Poof* you're done. Don't know what these people are talking about. If you want complicated setup just try to install the HP PSC 750xi. You can't connect the thing until you install the drivers first (which won't install in XP until you switch to compatability mode) and then you need to attach the unit. A specific comment for John below who notes 'the machine is prone to make my windows 98 operating system freeze up'. I hate to break this to you John, but it's Windows 98 that's causing Windows 98 to lock up (Translation: any OS based on the 9x kernel is HORRIBLE when it comes to stability; switch to Win 2k or Win XP when it's released). Finally, John were you using the USB cable (recommended) or a parallel connection? Now, FINALLY, on to the review. The XK35c is a PHENOMENAL value. For ... you get a high quality printer, copier, and an okay scanner. Comparing a multifunction to a standalone, more expensive printer is stupid (sorry the person below who felt the need to make that comparison). The XK35c is not supposed to be the best printer on the planet; it's supposed to be the best multifunction for ..., and it is. It's probably easier to review the unit if I compare it to the HP. Note however that the HP costs 50% more (... for the Xerox versus ... for the HP) and thus should be better. BUILD: The Xerox is built like a tank. Heavy and sturdy. The HP is flimsy, it's mostly plastic. However, this seems to have no adverse impact on printing, scanning, or copying. Printing: B&W Documents: Both units are about the same. Good quality. Both have settings to make documents look very nice. Pictures: HP wins hands down as it should for ... more. DOn't get me wrong, the quality fo the Xerox is unbelievable for the money and color replication is accurate. The HP just is that much better. COPYING: Both units copy fine although I find that the Xerox needs to be set at it's highest quality settings to get a good copy of most things (ie not just regular papers with print on them) while the HP makes very nice copies in it's regular mode. Furthermore, the HP has many more useful options when it comes to copying than the XEROX. SCANNING: The Xerox Scans accuarately as does the HP, which has better support/options. SPEED: Xerox is a little slow. Not something that will make you pull your hair out, but the HP makes it look slow. SPACE CONSIDERATIONS: The Xerox is large. It takes up a nice chunk of your desktop. IN comparison the HP is about 2/3 the size of the Xerox, leaving a significant amount more desk room. SUMMING IT ALL UP: For ..., the Xerox XK35x is AMAZING. You get high quality copies, printing, and scanning at a great price point. The HP does it better, but it should for 50% more. Also, consider that the Xerox will likely never support Windows XP. If you don't plan on switching to a new operating system in the next 2-3 years then don't worry about this. If money is in short supply and a multifunction is the object of your desire, the Xerox XK35c is a no-brainer as long as you don't intend to migrate to WIn XP this fall. On the other hand, if you have an extra c-note lying around and are obsessive about picture print quality, the HP PSC 750xi is your ticket. Great machine at an excellent price.
