Picked up one of these based on the feature set. Software and drivers are horrible - initial install bluescreened W2K. Reinstalled and was somehow able to get up and running. Printing anything other than draft mode was horribly slow - a normal color page took ~ 2.5 mins. During printing an annoying status window would come up to show print progress which was inevitably slow (for long periods it would just sit there, progress bar at zero). Occasionally the printer just hung, had to power cycle it before it would print again. PC would also sporadically bluescreen. Upgraded to W2K SP2 - no difference. Installed the latest print and scan drivers from Xerox and flashed the latest firmware onto the printer. Now consistent bluescreens trying to print from any application. Am returning the machine and have gone back to my trusty old HP printer which continues to work flawlessly.

I have had the opportunity of owning an XK50cx for the past two months and I was extremely disappointed. The print and scanning quality are excellent, it was easy to install, and very easy to make copies and send faxes.

BUT... it is extremely noisy -- especially the sheet feeder. The drivers wouldn't allow me to share the printer from Windows 98 and print from Windows 2000 and vice versa. There is no power button on the unit, and it never went to sleep -- the scanner light was always on. Finally, technical support was very poor.

We ended up taking the first unit back, hoping to correct the noise and not going to sleep problems, but the next unit was still plagued with these problems. We just replaced it with an HP G85, and it out does the XK50cx in overall quality.

I find the purchase of my Xerox WorkCentre XK50cx Color Flatbed All-In-One to be money well spent. I was able to replace a number of pieces of office equipment by the purchase of one. I gained a large amount of space in my office.

The Xerox XK50cx multifunction is the best in its class and the best valued.

The unit is a space saver. A flat bed scanner, a great color ink jet printer, a COLOR FAX machine and a automatic sheet feeder in one convenient package. That would be overwhelming separately on a few large tables, desks, chairs, floors! This unit fits on top of a stand easily.

I never liked scanning and printing from the computer because it takes so long and the quality was not impressive. But the XK50cx does it easily with the quality of a real XEROX MACHINE.

Navigating is easy. Simple go from left to right and choice quality, zoom and number of prints; then press START and it's ready to copy either B&W or COLOR. It does it fast and accurately like a professional copier.

The black text is like coming out of a laser printer. The color is so life like.

The scanner is 600dpi which delivers scans so crisp and colorful.

The Automatic Sheet Feeder can feed 30 pages at once!

When a FAX is being sent, the machine holds up to 160 pages in memroy before faxing. So if the number is busy and needs to retry, the pages are in memory so no time is wasted re-imaging the pages!

A fast 33.6 FAX modem is included for the color faxing.

The software including is the best in its class period. The OCR is perfect. The functionality of Pagis Pro 3.0 was flawless.

Everything was so easy to setup as well. I got this unit running by itself in about 5 minutes. The computer setup was another minute or two. I had my own personal home office all setup and ready to go thanks to the XK50cx. Has been working perfectly since and we love it.

This multifunction device did not print or scan at all when used in conjunction with my IBM NetVista computer. The problem probably relates to the USB connection (my computer only has USB ports - no parallel port) and may have something to do with Windows ME, as well. So if you have an all-USB computer and are running Windows ME, you have been forewarned. I was extremely disappointed with Xerox customer service, also. They just blamed the whole problem on Microsoft and IBM and basically couldn't have cared less about my predicament.

In my on going search for an "All-In-One" machine, I stumbled on this one. In reading the product features and customer reviews I thought I found the one. A few more clicks to the Xerox site stopped me in my tracks. I have found that this machine is no longer sold in the United States. The Xerox site did say that supplies are still available, but I have to question how long it will be before this machine is rendered obsolete due to unavailable supplies. Just a warning to other shoppers.

This unit is what an home office or small office needs.
It does my faxes, I can make copies, use it as my printer and scan books or documents as I need to.
The automatic paper feeder and flatbed makes my work always easier.

The install disk would not install the unit. It took me 3 days of fussing over it. I finally went to the Xerox website and downloaded drivers needed to install it, only to find out that I had to install the scanner features seperately! Now, all is installed and working. However, when I power down my computer, it sometimes turns itself back on. I will come home from work to find my computer on. I have compared the printing to my Epson Stylus Color 440 and there is no comparison. This machine prints beautifully! Love the product, hated the install.

I have had this machine for approximately one year. A persistent problem with this machine throughout ownership has been that when the black ink cartridge is replaced, the display continues to read "Change Black Ink." We are now out of warranty with Xerox, as of about one week ago. The Xerox representative stated that since the machine was out of warranty (by one week), she could not help me. I was referred to the Xerox website. I told her that I had already visited the website, but she insisted that I do that or contact a repair center, as my machine was out of warranty. In finally reaching a support source through a repair service, I was informed that the modem board had expired, which rendered this machine useless (cannot receive faxes). I was told that often these machines are designed with the selling of supplies in mind as opposed to quality of product. The website for Xerox is lousy as well as their "Customer NO SERVICE Department." If quality and service are important to you DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

i had it about six months before i had to throw it away from shear frustration. built cheaply and support was non-existant. as much as i really hate to say it... buy an HP.
