From the Back Cover

At Arthur C. Clarke station, four 24th century youths--Jim Street, Keira Bond, Suki Takeda, and Saxon Caine--join the System's most famous ship, the luxury yacht/freighter Xianne. There they encounter the mysterious, highly-eccentric, Captain Tom Duncan; his lovely CMO, Dr. Sharon Miles; and Chief Engineer Moses Jones. They escape an Earth burdened beneath heavy-handed laws, injustice, and fear; yet, liberated by abundant power--thanks to Helium-3 Fusion Reactors--and the Porn Culture's near-eradication of the sexual taboo. The time of their lives...will change their lives forever...as their journey begins aboard Xianne....

About the Author

The author is a cat-lover, a minor league baseball fan, and a voracious reader of all genres. XIANNE, a work of speculative fiction, is his first published novel and is, in his own words," ...As autobiographical as I will ever dare to be." Mr. Grayson currently lives in the southern United States. He has remained single--and celibate--since the death of his wife of 11 years at the turn of the century.

This book is one that I read in one sitting. Not because it was short, but because I just couldn't turn away. Grayson's vision of the future was wonderfully vivid and believable. The technical jargon wasn't overwhelming and quite easy to understand, and society had evolved in a very realistic way.

I loved all of the humor the story had. The characters were each unique and each had a life of their own, something sorely missing in a lot of books today. There was a lot of sex, but not enough detail to be offensive to anyone, and frankly, I enjoyed being able to imagine the scenarios in my own mind. The "nay" sexual orientation of the lead character was quite interesting. I can't wait to read the next volume to see what transpires between this group! What a wonderful mind trip!

What a great debut novel from author Jayce Grayson! Sci-fi readers who like a little sex with their space adventures should add this to their collection. Thought-provoking and at times laugh out loud funny, it gives the reader a preview of what space travel could be, and how human sexuality could evolve, light years ahead of society's current frame of mind, and time.

A young space traveler/construction worker, James, earns passage aboard a pristine, magnificent space ship, the Xianne--his ticket to a new and different phase of his life as a space worker. In this story, it really is about the journey, not the destination, and it's quite an entertaining ride all along the milky way! While there are moments of straight-up sexuality in this novel, there are other fascinating story elements at work. Oh yes, and how about that modern day Captain Kirk persona, Commander of the Xianne, who himself is quite an interesting fella. When he's first introduced in the story, I felt myself starting to crush on the man's mystery, and allure. That said, the most interesting character of all is the male lead, James, who manfully resists all temptation flowing his way. Why he does so keep the reader on his/her toes.

Along with the story's progression, the reader is given insight into why James chooses not to indulge in the erotic shenanigans of his space-mates in his spacecraft surround. What is revealed is a touching layer of story in itself. I'm very much looking forward to the next book in this series!

The author is quite artful in describing how things may and probably will be in the future. The skillful descriptions of all things space wise, the manner in which the vessels flew and moved, the G force variances; all were very understandable and made me able to picture myself being there, the purpose of reading, after all. The encounters among the crew were, as one reviewer said, subtly funny. I found myself smiling a lot. What I really liked was every character having a story and never getting left behind, a common mistake many other writers make after building them up in the first two or three chapters. The author gives us a chance to continue to like each character, somewhat of a change of pace. I only give the book 4 stars because I wanted to know what happens next. It's like a continuation of one of my favorite TV shows, "to be continued next week". Screw that, I want to know now! But overall a really good read and this comes from an actor and author who has never heard of Robert Henlein, although I have drunk his beer.

I wasn't much of a reader until a co-worker turned me on to Xianne! I loved this book from the start! I caught myself laughing out loud throughout this book! Jayce is also the author that turned me on to Jason Brant (still not convinced that they're not the same person lol) who's is possibly my favorite author! Since readIng Xianne, I've read many other books and have pretty much fell in love with reading and it's all thanks to Jayce! Can't wait for vol 3

XIANNE is an enjoyable, easy read. Not satisfied with simply another space adventure, the author develops an array of interesting, if somewhat exotic characters. The plot demonstrates the possible results of a society which has fallen prey to unbridled pornography. Naturally, the author has to present adequate character interaction to cover his subject. However, he manages to do this with considerably lighthearted humor and without subjecting the reader to excessive or overly explicit sexual situations. As the storyline progresses, like good, classic fiction, the characters in many ways become the story. Mr. Greyson provides a scenario in which we can observe his cast of personalities as they interact and their various and diverse relationships evolve. Too funny to be merely described as humorous, many of the scenes will have the reader actually laughing out loud. While reminiscent of other writers, the author brings his own flavor to the craft. (No pun intended.) This is just Volume One of a four part novel, so we'll have to anxiously await the next episode of XIANNE.

Jayce has a way with his narration where I could both see and hear as turned the pages. I love the writing style. As I have noted in reviews before, there is a war with showing and telling. I whole-heartily feel that Jayce has won this war for himself. In the back of my mind, I wanted more "dirty". I had assumed and judged "Xianne" falsely and found myself pleasantly surprised that the dirty portrayed was merely a norm for the characters. Where today we would consider the things happening in the book to be out of this world and would be looked down upon by the average do-gooder.

I highly recommend this book because it's funny. The entertainment value speaks higher and requires you to use your own imagination. I know that Volume Two is up and ready, I will be adding this to my collection very soon. I applaud Jayce and I am a huge fan. I will officially have his cyber baby!
