YMAA: Yang's Martial Arts Association was established in Boston, MA in 1982. With the intent of preserving traditional Chinese Gongfu (Kung Fu) and Qigong , Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming began training students in the rigors of Shaolin Long Fist and White Crane Gongfu as well as Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan. Dr. Yang also undertook his life-long dream of teaching and researching the Chinese arts and introducing them to the West through many books, videos and DVDs. YMAA Publication Center has been a publisher of high quality traditional martial arts and health books since 1984, and is a pioneer in the cultural exchange between the East and West. While the West has successfully developed the material sciences, the East is celebrated for its levels of spiritual cultivation. During this period of exchange, the building of bridges is critical for the successful integration of the achievements of both societies.

I had expected to see master Liang himself demonstrating the forms described here. Instead, we see his head students going through the motions. Kelly McLean is good, however, the male student with the blue outfit needs a lot time to work on being more relaxed - this is after all an internal art. His back seemed stiff, rather than straight, and he was moving much too fast.

This is simply not good enough. If this is a master Liang tape, _he_ should be demonstrating all the forms, not the student body. Again, you buy these tapes not just to see the movements, but also to see the form of someone who has practiced them for many years or decades.

That said, this tape describes the animal forms that weren't included in the book of the same name, as well shows the forms "Xing Yi", the five fists and the five fist linking sequence.

This is a great companion to the book, and shows things that aren't in the book also. Master Liang's top students demonstrate very clearly. Together with the book, this is more instruction on Xingyi than you will find anywhere else.
