Catchy Arena Rock to Warm Your Rock Hard Soul!!!,
By Kyle Warnick (Bellevue, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Xl From Coast to Coast (Audio CD)
Do you ever have one of those listening experiences where you are excited when you listen to a record, I mean really excited, you feel the need to tell everyone you know (even those you don't) about the music? You need to put on headphones to listen because you want the music as close to you as possible? You're tapping your toes, bobbing your head, lip synching to words you still don't know but the music is just so... COOL that it deserves involvement?!!! Well I haven't been this excited about a record for quite some time. I was into the new Wilco but this is a different experience and the music is very different. This is stripped down, fast, straight ahead rock with a huge crunchy guitar sound, loud bashing drums, it's anthem-like, very sing-song arena rock (many of the tracks have an aggressive power pop vibe ala Foo Fighters). I dare anyone to listen and not feel their blood pumping a little faster after a song like "My Happy Ending" and by the end of that track you will be dancing...guaranteed!! The experience is even more enhanced if you have a hairbrush (read microphone) or tennis racket (read guitar for you lip synch neophytes) nearby to pretend you're helping belt out this great music...honestly go out and buy this record, it's fun, fast and best of all it's not pretentious or too self aware, these are musicians doing some great rock, plain and simple. We all need to support this type of rock to cause the Bizkit to go away!!! Sign my petition please...go buy their "XL From Coast To Coast" disc today!

It's THE BEST!,

I own everyone of Alien Crime Syndicates CD's. I've seen them play countless times and I never get tired of their freshness and the genuine rush they exude when they play their music for an audience - it is contagious. This album tranlates that energy everytime you hear the music. "My Happy Ending" gets my vote for the best on the album, but every one of the songs is a strong bet for popularity by radio listeners. "Let's Break the Record" certainly captures the listener to get up and shout, as does the irrepresable "Ozzy". BUY THIS ALBUM and if you get the opportunity - go see them live!

Man these guys are so awsome. I wish the industry would hurry up and make them stars so that every one could hear them because they (excuse the trite-ness) rock. They are compleetly fresh and entergetic and... uh... yea they rock. Quit reading this and go buy the damn album.

Rock in its Own World,

This particular cd combines 70's rock with a modern twist. The words to the music will have all rock fans singing along. Not only does the cd have style, so do the performers. Their live show is simple but the best I've seen.

A half-decent CD with one really song,

"Ozzy" is definitely the standout track on this CD. It's far better mixed than the other songs; it has an entirely different sound and feel. The rest of the songs all blend together, except for "Break the Record," which has a fairly catchy hook, but seems to have been produced by another band. If I'd heard "Ozzy" and "Break the Record" before buying the CD, I'd never have believed that Alien Crime Syndicate recorded both of them. After reading the previous reviews, I was expecting a CD that measured up to its great single, but I was disappointed.

TAKES NO PRISONERS!!! I wish I heard music like this on the radio. Really one of the best-produced albums I've ever heard. Joe is in PEAK form and the entire band flexes its muscles throughout... play this one REAL loud, kids, scare the neighbors. Wake the dead!!!
