3.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant music, but it doesn't do it for me December 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
The Radar Brothers are an indie rock band from Los Angeles. The band has released six full-length records, including their latest full-length album, The Illustrated Garden, which was released in March 2010 on the Merge Records (US), and Chemikal Underground (UK/EU) labels.

That's what I learned about the Radar Brothers. This was my first exposure to their music. "Xmas Lights" is okay, and it's a pleasant enough sound, but it doesn't grab me or make me want to hear it a second time. It's just not my kind of music.

But thanks to Amazon for giving us the free Christmas downloads. I haven't liked all of the music, but it's nice to be able to sample music that's not always in my comfort zone.

1.0 out of 5 stars You're kidding me, right? December 18, 2011
You're kidding me, right? I couldn't find the pause button fast enough. Thanks, but NO THANKS Amazon. I prefer music from people that can carry a tune.

1.0 out of 5 stars Amazon what is with these songs?? December 18, 2011
I understand that the music has been free, but I agree with so many of the posts that the majority of the music has been horrible. I even gifted a few songs, and the response was about the same, they weren't ingrates for me sending them free music, just comments like, "These songs are free for a reason". The 1 star rating does reflect my rating of this song, just brutal and vocals are way off key. I'm usually a very upbeat person, but I am giving you the feedback you asked for. I can buy my music anywhere, and it's good that Amazon appreciates its customers and wants to make sure they attract more customers and retain the paying customers they have, but the majority of this free music is just so bad. I put my thoughts to Amazon here as I was giving this particular song 1 star. Like reviewers before me, I couldn't hit the pause button fast enough! Amazon, marketing tip, you have a good name and this free music promo is only a let down for customers you already have. People that are gifted these free songs have no reason to pick Amazon if this music is their first impression, and it's only tarnishing your good name.

1.0 out of 5 stars Thanks, but no thanks! December 18, 2011

C'mon Amazon, no Christmas gift at all would be less of an insult than this garbage! I was really excited about the free music downloads when I saw the promo on December 1st, but most of it has been a waste of my time to download. Of all the Christmas music out there this is what you come up with?

I just didn't care for this song. It just wasn't one of my favorites. Maybe it's because I'm a classics fanatic.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as some have condemned it December 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a little indie pop song. If you've listened to indie pop from New Zealand in the past couple of decades for eg, you'll recognize the style. (Although these guys are not from NZ). Yes, the guy's voice is not the best at the beginning, the sparse arrangement doesn't flatter him, but you know what? A guy doesn't have to be the best singer, he's just got to sing with conviction. The song has a nice chorus and the instrumental build up to the outro at the end is nicely done. When the guy sings with a fuller arrangement, his thin vocal ability doesn't jar. It's not an awful song, just may not be to everyone's taste.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful pitch December 22, 2011
I don't normally post a review on free songs, but I really wondered if this song was a joke because the singer was *that* off-key. Nails on chalkboard. Sorry.
