It gets 4 stars because it's ad free and doesn't have obnoxious permissions.

It's a very standard photo app with one random function that's a little fun. There is a die, roll it and see what your picture does.

+ Lets you use a photo from your gallery
+ has a couple of cool filters

- Offers you a sketch upgrade in one section.
- Doesn't allow text on photos (How the heck can I make meme's with this? mwah.)

It's a photo app- all day long. If you don't already have 20- get this one too.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very good, even as a free app of the day. October 12, 2013
Verified Purchase
A friend asked me the other day how many apps I have for photo editing because it's a hobby of mine. I actually shocked myself when I counted 48 on my Galaxy S 3. I have 64 gb of space. Lol. This app makes 49 but it isn't going to make the cut, I'm afraid. :(

For being a "pro" version, the features are so very few. No ability to add text to the photos. What?!? Who leaves that out now? I need fonts, people, & lots of them! Sure, you can sharpen and tint the picture a bit, but what apps won't?

Definitely not worth the download and lucky they even squeezed out two stars from me!

3.0 out of 5 stars no better than Instagram October 12, 2013
Verified Purchase
Tried this for a few minutes, then uninstalled. The filters seem less interesting than Instagram (and dozens of similar apps) and this app doesn't have the sharing options of Instagram. I've really lost interest in Instagram-style apps anyway. Years ago, these types of filter apps really could improve on (or at least hide the flaws of) the out-of-focus inaccurate-color photos typically produced by smartphone cameras. Nowadays, smartphone cameras are so much better that I much prefer photo tuning apps like Snapseed that help you bring out the details in your photos.

This is a typical photo editing app. It does everything that it states that it will but it is nowhere as sophisticated as many of the photo editing apps that I own. You can open a photo on your device or take a new one and adjust it. You can adjust the brightness, contrast or the color intensity.

On the bottom of the screen are the controls that you can use. You can also select one of many preset tinting screens, put a halo type of shadow effect around the photo, overlay an odd selection of various colors and patterns and apply a frame. When finished you can save the result and set the size of the photo you want to save. You can select a dice symbol on the top of the screen and have the app just do some random adjustments and you can rotate a photo. You can also send the photo out using email or other output selections like Dropbox.

Overall the app is just OK. It is nothing bad but nothing great. I have multiple applications to do the same thing and some of them have more features like adding text to a photo. On this one there is no text feature for example. I rate this app at a 3 star. If you don't have a photo editing app then get this one. If you already have a favorite editing app then you probably will not need or use this one.

Permissions:
* modify or delete the contents of your USB storage
* full network access
* view network connections

This app does contain Google Analytics in it. It can monitor your device actions while using the app and report behavioral data as well as software issues data back to the developer. It contains no adware or malware and it is safe to download onto your device.

This app installed 10.34MB into my device memory and I manually had to move it to the SD card. After the move it left 1.89MB in my device memory and it put 11.25MB onto my SD card memory.

5.0 out of 5 stars NO ads, pretty nifty little app October 12, 2013

Yes, there are a lot of apps out there that do this kind of thing, but I've loved using XNView as my Windows image viewer, so I had to try this one out as the free app of the day.

First, there are no ads. Hopefully, it will stay this way, as users a few months ago had ads in the paid version, apparently.

It's pretty standard fair: Take a picture, or pick one from your gallery, and add effects. You can crop, adjust levels, add frames and add other effects to your images all very simply. It's all done quickly and effectively, with many different choices, and a cool random selection.

Permissions are few, and my virus scanner reported nothing amiss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality and Ease October 13, 2013

I've used a lot of these photo editing apps. This is by far the best combination of ease of use with great results. Icons are super clear on my tablet, making previewing go way fast. If you like retro, you want this. Cheaper than a Big Mac.

5.0 out of 5 stars XnRetro Pro August 29, 2013

I have had the original free version since I bought the Kindle (fire HD if we must get technical). I enjoyed the original, many of choices and easy to use, totally fun my favourite application to use. Today I went to use it and they had mucked up the free version. The price on the pro is very close to free so I decided to get it. The color variants are still delightful and they added new frames. I really love number 11. They added a new cropping tool that could be useful but for the picture I wanted to post (Facebook) I wanted the full picture. It took me three tries to get what I wanted. I wish their was just a button for no crop instead of needing to adjust with your fingers. I would accidentally go out of range and it would make a tiny box so you have to readjust. That is my only complaint on the new version but you can turn the cropping option off in the settings. I recommend this app, it's a peach.
