Interestingly engaging photos. The less stagey conceptual ones towards the end of the book work better for me. But what is with the production values. Many of the shots look digitally oversharpened, with compression artifacts everywhere, as if they were shot with a department store digicam.

A Very Artistic Collection,

This book has gotten to be part of my top ten favorite nude photography books. The book is rather small, 128 is the strict page count, but many pages are blank. Nevertheless, I like Jirmann's style, and very specially his way to play with mirrors and water.
There are many books out there that let you appreciate the beauty of the model, the mastery of the photographer, and the quality of the equipment, but they don't give you any additional concept. Jirmann can really give you much to think about the artistic message, the subtext, on every shot. The only flaw I saw are two nice photographies that are split into two pages. They are quite nice, but the binding of the book makes it look uneven, not particularly smooth. I would prefer them to be printed on one page only, even if that means they are resized and smaller.

I did not like this book. It is too simple, with little imagination from author. The pictures are the so called "postals" in the photographic argot. I would expect a more innovative and more interesting book on this subject.
