Safe and Easy to Operate
Designed with safety in mind, each of these telescoping ladders features a No-Pinch Closure System, as well as red/green tab indicators that let you know when the rungs are locked into place and the ladder is safe to climb. An angled thumb release ensures proper hand positioning and the ergonomic design allows for smooth operation and easy adjustments, even for those with smaller hands. In addition, each Home Edition ladder has non-slip end caps that help keep it firmly in place.
Carry and Store Anywhere
Xtend & Climb Home Edition Telescoping Ladders are great for use in those hard-to-reach areas where it's difficult to maneuver a traditional extension ladder. Each Home Edition ladder can be transported with its integrated carrying handle to the most confined areas in and around your house, and then extended to the desired length once you're there. For further convenience, these ladders can be used with durable carry cases (sold separately), and they store compactly in your garage or trunk.
Constructed with Durable Materials
Made of Aerospace Engineered 6061 alloy with a Clean-Touch anodized finish, each heavy-duty Xtend & Climb Home Edition ladder has rungs that are built tough to ensure sturdy footing. And with a 225-pound ANSI duty rating, each ladder can easily withstand around-the-house jobs.
Each Xtend & Climb Home Edition Telescoping Ladder is backed by a six-month warranty on parts and repair.

This review is from: Xtend & Climb 770P Aluminum Telescoping Ladder Type II Home Series, 12.5-Foot (Tools & Home Improvement)
I was concerned at first buying this product as there are ladders of this type sold at more than twice the price of this one. I bought this ladder for my wife and I to use to access 2 storage areas we have in our appartment. they are both about 10 ft up and so I bought the 12ft unit to allow for a proper angle when placing the ladder. After reading the the reviews on here I had some concern about pinched fingers and durability...but thought I would try anyhow based on the many possitive reviews. I unpacked the product, shipped in a full styrofoam case and cardboard..it was heafty but not heavy, fine for me and the mrs'.
The ladders exstension is achived by simply pulling up on the rung until the it locks, pulling again for more height and so on. A couple of tips for safety sake. First off the rungs have a working side which has the tabs and the color slots to show you the status of the rung. What that means is when you pull up on the ladder to extend it the rung will show red until it locks and then green when it locks. the reverse happens when you release the tabs to lower the ladder. When lowering it is important to be mindful of finger placement or you WILL pinch a finger. I do see this as an issue for some, its NOT a ladder for kids or anyone that has dexterity problems. That being said it is an excellent ladder what easily supports my 225# frame and the heavy boxes we need to put in our loft, I even put up a cedar chest with it. The ladder fits so easily under our coats in the closet and goes up and down quickly. I great buy.

I have a home with high ceilings (14 ft.) & need a way to change the smoke alarm batteries. This is a big deal, since it needs to be done once each year; not to mention dealing with false alarms... Standard extension ladders are too heavy. This product fits the bill, at a reasonable cost & completely manageable weight!
Highly recommended! PS. 5-2010- Now that I have had some time with this ladder I want to increase my rating to 5 stars. It is a great tool for the average homeowner. Very stable, don't worry about the "fingers thing", as long as one puts down one "step" at a time, no risk. Highly recommended!

This ladder performs exactly as advertised and certainly fills the need I had. We have a vaulted ceiling in our bedroom with windows in the upper part of the wall as well as a skylight in the master bath. Even the tallest stepladder would either be too wide to fit into the tight space of the skylight or too awkward to get up the stairs to use. The Xtend & Climb ladder is easy to carry and easy to use.
I hate being on any ladder but I feel safe on this ladder. I would caution that it is obvious why it should be used according to directions. There is a definite danger of severe injuries to finders if you get them in the way while closing the ladder. However, it is easy to keep your fingers out of harm's way and this should not be a factor in deciding whether to buy this product. The other precaution, that I'm sure causes problems for some who fail to read directions, is that the ladder should never rest on the vertical portions of the ladder. If you bend or dent one of those you may not be able to close the ladder completely and you'll defeat it's purpose and usefulness. It's certainly not the ladder for every use but it is easy to use, easy to carry and will replace my extension ladder for most jobs and my step ladder for some.
