4.0 out of 5 stars Seems to be helping the tendinitis in my hands and wrists, but bands break.

2.0 out of 5 stars xtensor review
I have had issues with carpal tunnel in the past with surgery and such, I thought the xtensor would help strenghten my hand. I think over time it will, but it is very uncomfortable, I had to find foam padding to fit into it, to prevent from cutting into my skin.

I have been desperate to find something to help heal the tendinitis in my hands and wrists. I had similar problems years ago and had to go to physical therapy. I had better health insurance then and it paid for most of it and I was healed. I got tendinitis again lately and was told by a doctor that I should get some physical therapy. I got tendinitis both times by using a computer a lot and then lifting too much weight too fast after being idle for awhile. Don't make the same mistake! My health insurance currently sucks, so I thought I would try to find a way to rehab on my own. I used the knowledge I got from previous physical therapy to do this. I bought some Ergodyne Proflex Wrist Supports to prevent bending my wrists, while still allowing movement of my fingers to type. Then I bought some ice packs. I got some Pro Ice Wrist Wraps, which work great and an Active Wrap Wrist Wrap, which is ok. Then I had to find something that would be similar to the the exercises I did in rehab. This product looked like it would provide similar strengthing and flexing exercises. It seems to be working well so far. I've had it a month and it seems to be helping. Unfortunately, the one problem I have with this product is that the finger bands break easily. It helps to pre-stretch them, but they still break. I suggest you buy some replacement bands off the manufacturer's web site. The are free, but you pay $3.00 for shipping and you get 8 replacements. I may update this later on, but it seems to be working well so far.

1.0 out of 5 stars Flashy Product, Poor Craftsmanship, November 22, 2009

Often the first generation of a new technology has a lot of bugs. And this is the case with the Xtensor. It's a great looking product and it will work your forearm, but the rubber bands both-- slip out of their sockets and break-- so easily that you'll be a lot more annoyed with the manufacturer than you will be strengthened or sore from its use.

If I had it to do again, I'd pass. But if you do decide to purchase this overpriced piece of plastic, do yourself a favor: go to the manufacturer's website (the only place you can get them) and buy a couple of packets of replacement bands straight away because you're definitely going to need them. I needed replacement bands within the first 10 days of use.

4.0 out of 5 stars great invention, July 14, 2009
This review is from: Xtensor Blue for tennis elbow, capral tunnel & hand stiffness (Health and Beauty)
Thank goodness products like this one are starting to see the light of day - carpal tunnel and tendinitis run in my family, and with me spending 10+ hour days at my computer, and having spent many of my free hours playing guitar, it was inevitable that I became afflicted at a young age. The Xtensor has definitely helped quite a bit. I'd recommend it for anyone who has problems already, or anyone who does a lot of repetitive motion with their hands. My only complaint is that it's a bit big, despite being largely adjustable. Maybe they'll make a pink one for us little females someday ;P

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Gadget!, January 17, 2011
This review is from: Xtensor Blue for tennis elbow, capral tunnel & hand stiffness (Health and Beauty)
The Xtensor is just as good as any of the other great products I've bought, like the Power Web Hand Exerciser, the Cando Digit-Extend Hand Exerciser, the Handmaster Plus, and the Expand-Your-Hands Bands. To me, they all work wonderful! I've used these items along with icing my affected areas (elbows - tendonitis, and wrists - carpal tunnel) with ice wraps for 20 minutes, twice daily, and I am experiencing rapid healing and recovery!

3.0 out of 5 stars Seems to be working, but poor assembly instructions, June 29, 2009
This review is from: Xtensor Blue for tennis elbow, capral tunnel & hand stiffness (Health and Beauty)
My father bought this for me to help with my tendonitis & carpal tunnel. I have been using this for a few weeks & it seems to be helping. My only complaints about the product so far are 1) it didn't come with any pictures/diagrams to help with assembly (photos showing it on -from the top & bottom of hand- would've been useful, had to find images on the web)and 2) the top part was digging into the top part of my hand during the exercises. I was able to solve the last problem by putting a triple layer of the included foam pads (product comes with 2 pads, I split one and sandwiched it all together).
