Product Description

From the Manufacturer

AirPlay is the first and only iPod-powered FM Transmitter that works across the full FM frequency band without the need to install software. Allowing iPod users to broadcast audio wirelessly from their iPod through any FM radio, AirPlay is perfect for use in automobiles, especially those without a cassette player or auxiliary input jack.

AirPlay matches iPod's ease-of-use. Plug it in, tune it, and push play. AirPlay is smaller, simpler, and better than any iPod FM Transmitter ever made.

AirPlay features an easy-to-read illuminated digital frequency display, which turns off automatically after tuning to conserve iPod battery power. When iPod begins to play, AirPlay automatically transmits on the last used radio frequency. Because of its energy efficient design, when the iPod is not playing, the Airplay automatically powers off. With Airplay, there is no need to navigate menus in the iPod. Selecting a new frequency is easy, simply find an unused FM frequency on the radio, then press AirPlay's tuning buttons to quickly select the new frequency.

AirPlay is a marvel of miniaturization, packing more features and better performance into a smaller package than any other FM transmitter. It is so compact that it does not block the iPod's hold switch. AirPlay is designed to work universally with all iPods with Dock Connector and Click Wheel iPods, including iPod photo, iPod U2 Special Edition, iPod from HP, as well as iPod mini.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job that others did not do., June 20, 2005

I bought this unit after trying the Itrip by Griffen Technologies which I found to be unsatisfactory. This unit does the job. In my car and on my boat, the Airplay works very well, even here in Southern California where there really aren't any completely clear FM frequencies. The Airplay seems to have much more power than at least two other FM transmitters I have tried, which enable it to function very well.

Setting up the Airplay is simplicity itself; one simply plugs it into the top of the Ipod and dial in the desired FM frequency. No software to deal with. Make sure that the volume control of the Ipod is at about 60-70%--this is the only critical setting. The Airplay has greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the Ipod by enabling me to use the Ipod anywhere I have an FM radio, thereby letting me use the nice speaker systems in my boat and car. Great! One day, of course, car and marine stereos will have Ipod docks. But until that happy day, the Airplay will be there for us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Well, June 19, 2005

I bought this item after returning the Belkin FM Modulator for iPod mini after it died only after five days of use. I have been very pleased with this item. It works well and is incredibly small and simple to use. The sound quality is better than the Belkin. It seems less hollow and tinny. The sound quality is much better in my husband's truck than in my car. I think the type of car speakers you have makes a difference. I have not had a hard time finding empty stations for it to play on either. So, I do recomend this product. It works well and is small and compact.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better then itrip, but same sound quility., April 17, 2005
This review is from: XtremeMac AirPlay FM Transmitter for iPod and iPod Mini (Electronics)
I had the i-trip until it broke recently. I needed to replace it, but wanted to see if there was something better. I had the same problem that other people had with the i-trip. It changed stations on me when I was using shuffle, sometimes I couldn't get it to change back, it was hard to change stations while driving and sound quility was just OK. All these problems accept the sound quility, were fixed with the airplay. You can not expect to great of sound without a direct connection. I did notice if you turn you sound louder up on the i-pod there is less interferance. Anyway great product for it's price and for it's use, but don't expcet perfect sound. Buy this over over the I-trip.
