as big as Shrek,
By Shelley Gammon "Geek" (Kaufman, Texas USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

Not that a full-size iPod is small, but there is too much gradual taper from the iPod on this armband - it's monster-huge, and unless you've got an arm like Popeye, it's just too big for most folks. Great for running in a mist or high-humidity zone, since the iPod is protected behind a clear sleeve. You can't access controls for volume through the clear covering, but you can manage to hit the pause on the click wheel if you're desperate. Great for muddy conditions where you want to keep your iPod pristine.

I have been using this arm band for a while now and it is very useful. I have seen some of the others and did not want them becuase I wanted something to protect the entire ipod and stay well on my arm while running. I didn't want to worry about it while working out. I am 6'3" 196 and I feel that it would work for many other sizes. Note that the 20G ipod is not an ipod mini or shuffle and if you are smaller it may feel bulky on your arm when working out. The click wheel works great under the plastic cover and head phones fit snuggly in the neoprene hole. There is also a elastic loop to bunch up excess cords. Pretty ideal and ingeneious design. May accomadate a variety of setups. I am sure I found the right one.

Not If You Sweat,
By JB (Atlanta) - See all my reviews
This review is from: XtremeMac SportWrap ArmBand for iPod Black (Electronics)
Good concept and it will keep your IPOD dry....but the velcro is not secure if you are a person that sweats. It is also not secure if you have arm motion in the exercise you are doing. It has flown off my arm while jogging, fallen to the floor during bench press, and forget it if you are working arms. My IPOD is dry but it has taken a beating on several occassions because the velcro could not stay fastened.

Armbands are cool,

I completely agree with Ankit Garg and Victor Obaseki's review. Their reviews are right on it and there really isn't much more to say but to ask yourself a few questions about what you want. I decided to take a chance on this armband because walking with it in my pocket is a pain, and holding it while I run can get irritating after a while. I needed something that would allow me to take my 4thGen 20G ipod with me while I exercise and simultaneously remove it as a hassle. This armband satisfies both requirements. As for the scratches on the back of the ipod, it will happen. However, I stopped it by putting it in a small ziplock sandwich bag and making a hole where the earphones go in. It's annoying I'll admit but like all things, I take care of it as much as I can until I drop it for the first time. The plastic that covers the touchwheel is easy enough to still use the ipod, it's not as sensitive and you'll need to get used to it but it does not pose a problem. A good playlist would be smart. The real question is, are willing to put up with it because there isn't anything else out there that's definitively better. An armwrap just isn't for everybody.
I'm a guy and this armband is pretty good. Measure the width of your arm and if it exceeds 17 inches, you may have a problem. With no flexing, my arm is around 15 inches but I like it tight leaving about 3 inches to save. The armwrap doesn't chaff or irritate the side of the chest but if you're extra sensitive, go home cook rice. If I get sick of it on one side of the arm, I switch it to the other with the armband reversed and it works just as good. I don't use it to lift weights cause there's too much flexing going on but while I run, walk, ride a bike, it fits my needs. If you're a girl, it may be too big, it may not. The armwrap may pose a problem if you've got arms like a twig. Maybe uncomfortable directly on the skin. I'm unsure what the correct procedure is to wash it. I just throw it in with my clothes and it comes out fine. Secure the armwrap or it'll get caught on to some of your clothes or wrap around them. Several washes may result in unwanted consequences but I won't know about that yet. Anyone really know?

Poor product,
By Ankit Garg (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews

This product serves its purpose but in the cheapest way possible. Your iPod WILL get very bad and noticeable scratches from this item. After using it one time, I immediately went out and bought a skin for my iPod to shield it from any more damage. The cloth rubs off really easily onto the iPod causing further damage. It is extremely hard to put the iPod into the strap if you have a fairly thick skin on it.
The strap fits nicely and does not move. Some people maybe applying the strap directly to their bicep which is ironically skinnier than the upper part of one's arm. The strap fit snuggly and with plenty of room available for adjustment. I wore the wrap while running a modest 7 minute mile, and it did not present too much hindrance. The strap may feel as if it is coming loose because of the constant bicep/tricpe contraction, but it stays put. The strap stretches a little bit and returns to the original shape when necessary. When the product is older, it will probably loose such elasticity. The headphone jack is a bit difficult to get to, but once you get it in, it doesn't move. Overall, if you don't really care about additional scratches to your iPod, or have a way to shield it, then this product is good for you. If you value the aesthetics of your iPod and will be putting your iPod in here naked, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. You will cry at the amount of scratches.

I was a bit hesitant to purchase this item after reading some of the negative reviews. However, upon receiving it, I was very happy. I did not find the strap too long at all, and I think it would fit a variety of arms, from thin to thick. It is easy to insert your iPod and the headphones, and there is a little pocket where you can stuff the excess cord from your headphones to keep it out of your way. Also, the item does not slip as you are moving, if you adjust the strap tight enough. Surprisingly, I also found that I could adjust the volume through the plastic screen after experimenting to get the right amount of pressure. Also, this would fit a variety of iPods (mine is an older 20GB iPod, no video) similar to the one pictured.
The only problem I could foresee is if one were to wear this on bare skin, i.e., with a sleeveless top. I wear mine over my t-shirt sleeve, but I could see the strap possibly irritating your skin by rubbing, but this could probably be solved by adjusting its position. Also, since the item is larger to accommodate the larger iPods, it does create quite a sweaty section on your arm, but this can't really be avoided. All in all, this is a great product for protecting my iPod while I work out!

Won't fit the regular Joe's arm,
By Leonardo (London UK) - See all my reviews

I'm 5'9" and 150 lbs, and this product just won't fit tightly in my arm. I have the 60 GB iPod and even without exercise, it starts slipping down in about two minutes.
If you have a 60GB iPod, I'm not sure there are other options. Anyway, I am returning this product.

Works well, but not intended for new video iPods,
By
This review is from: XtremeMac SportWrap ArmBand for iPod Black (Electronics)
I found this to be more comfortable than my previous armband, but it is not built for the new 5G iPods. The hole for the headphones is in the center, and while I don't mind putting another hole in it may be an issue for others. I found the velcro to be very secure and I like the cord holder. This is an older style, and the size was good. I later purchased another one, which was the newer style and had the hole on the side for the newer 5G iPod. The new style is indeed too large for the average person.

Don't like it for my ipod...but use it for my Treo 650,

I disagree with Miguel who obviously has arms like Mr. Universe because this armband is in my opinion much too big and bulky. It even looks big on the model they have wearing it on the cover of the box... and you know that fitness model was somewhere around 5,9 or something tall like that anyway. If it looks big on her just imagine how it'll look on average sized women. It'll look big on men too, but it'll be worse for the smaller build of women. Everyone will wonder what that big black thing is strapped to your arm. It looks cumbersome and feels a bit that way too. The good thing is that if you do get it after reading these reviews, you will be so prepared and bracing yourself for the size, that once you recieve it, it won't seem that big to you. This in my opinion is what happened to Miguel. In any case- It's large.
You can't access controls easily, (which for me is a huge problem) but it will protect your ipod. Can't say I totally regret buying this. Even though I don't use it for my ipod, it's great for my Treo 650 Smartphone! I just cut a little piece away from the top to make room for the antenna and wallah! An armband for my Treo 650 phone! I would never take my Phone with me while I was jogging unless I was on Call or was expecting an important contact. Needless to say, having to carry a large pda/cell phone with you while excersising is a pain. A slightly cumbersome armband to hold the PDA/phone is a small price to pay as the phone itself is cumbersome anyway during certain activities like jogging.

the duct for plugging in the headphone is at the center, whereas for the IPod classic 80GB i need to plug it in at the right hand corner and there is no way u can do that with this arm band.
