Product Description

Most displays only offer one or two HDMI ports, which isnt enough to support all of your devices. The XtremeMac 4-Port HDMI Switcher is a simple solution that lets you connect up to four devices to a single HDMI port on your TV. Simply connect your device's cable/satellite box, Apple TV, DVD player, gaming console, etc. to the input ports on the switcher, then connect the switcher to your display using a single HDMI cable. You can switch between devices using the included remote, your own universal remote, or the button on the front of the unit. An LED on the front will indicate which source you have selected.

I called that number and the support specialist told me that they are not the company to talk with, and to call another number.

I purchased this device because my Sony TV has only one HDMI input, and it is currently being used by my Verizon FIOS connection. I needed a method to connect my new "Apple TV" to the Sony TV via a second HDMI connection.

The Xtreme HDMI switcher allows up to 4 HDMI inputs to share the single HDMI port on the Sony TV.

The setup was quick and easy, and it works like a charm. The small remote included with the device allows the user to switch between the incoming sources.

One caution: The switcher has the same footprint as the Apple TV device, but Apple Tech Support advised me to avoid stacking them because of the heat generated by the Apple TV device.

I got this switch so I could use both my XBox 360 Elite and AppleTV with my Samsung HDTV (HL-R5067W) which only has one HDMI port. The switch works beautifully with my Xbox, allowing for 1080i (my TV's highest resolution) without any noise in the signal, something I've experienced in the past when using switches). However, AppleTV owners please note that while Apple states their product will work with Samsung TVs, and it does if directly plugged into the TV's HDMI port, it will not work on this switch when coupled with the Samsung set. Apparently there is a handshake issue between the AppleTV and the signal coming from the TV through the switch. I've seen this setup work several times on other brand TVs so I know its not the switch, but some software issue with the AppleTV (I have upgraded the using to the latest version, which includes YouTube support, but it has not fixed the problem). Other than the AppleTV issue it works flawlessly, and my Harmoney 880 remote was able to learn the simple IR commands from the included remote without fail.

I purchased this switch after adding a second HDMI-equipped component to my entertainment center. After a week of switching my TV's HDMI cable between the two devices, I decided it was time to revisit the state of HDMI switches.

Based on a very positive review published by MacWorld -- combined with the reasonable price -- I decided to purchase one from [...]. After using this switch for approximately 3 weeks, I can tell you that I am EXTREMELY happy with my purchase!

For those interested in my specific setup, I use this switch continuously with both a TiVo Series 3 High-Def DVR and a Sony PlayStation 3. I also occasionally use it with two Apple Mac computers: a PowerMac G5 2.7 and a MacBook Pro 17".

In terms of performance, I have not experienced a single glitch/hiccup/etc. This despite the fact that I have tried all kinds of scenarios to test the switch's reliability! For example, I have tried rapidly changing screen resolutions on my various components -- particularly with my TiVo Series 3 and my PlayStation 3 (both of which utilize HDCP) -- and the XtremeHD switch has taken it in stride. I have also tried rapidly changing the input source, and again, it has worked perfectly.

As to features, it has everything you need. The remote control -- a compact credit-card-sized device -- provides four buttons for direct access to each input, in addition to power on/off. Furthermore, the switch has a front-panel button that doubles as both power on/off, as well as input source selection. That way, if you misplace the remote, you can still operate the device.

The bottom line is, this switch provides exactly what you need, in a compact, attractive package. And it is a great value. Buy this HDMI switch, and never deal with constantly plugging and unplugging HDMI cables again!

For their price/features ratio the Syntax Olevia TVs are widely sold, also at Amazon. I have a recent 26" model to which the Apple TV has been connected for a flawless performance. Upon purchasing a Toshiba HD-DVD I also picked up the Extrememac HDMI switcher, since the company seems to sleep in the same bed as Apple, with the unit having the same form factor as the Apple TV, and the company delivering affordable cables for the Apple TV via Apple. So my expectations were not too high to expect the Apple TV to work with the Extrememac switcher.
After being unable to get the Apple TV to work with the switcher (advertised specifically as "Works with Apple TV") I am now in receipt of a Extrememac support email stating that not all TVs work with the switcher. Major bummer, and I chide the company for not disclosing which brands fail to hook up. After all, the thing's a $99. paperweight otherwise. Buyer beware!

I as a HD nut have many devices connected to my tv but not enough HDMI ports. My television has 3 HDMI ports though I only use two for the fact that I dont like using side ports but who does. Anyway I read an article about this switch and heard good things so I ordered it and tried it out. Let me tell you that if you your like me and you need a lot of HDMI ports this is the switch for you. I have tested all my equipment to this device and all of them work great. 1080p comes through clear and so does my surrond sound. No matter what device I use it works great. The only thing I did not like about this system was that there are no external buttons to control the switcher meaning that you rely on the remote control for everything. This is bad if you lose the control (Or in my case have your dog chew it to non exsitance, thank god for harmony remotes) because you will not be able to control the switcher unless you have a universal remote like a Harmony in order to control it again or buy a replacement from the company. All in all for what it does and it has to do this switcher works great.
