#1 Example of high quality MADE IN THE USA! I'm a piano technician and have been using parallel cutters up to now that are heavy, expensive and have replaceable jaws that don't always align and are also expensive to replace. These music wire shears fit into my little tuning kit and I find them very efficient to use and they have a great feel. The heaviest piano wire snips just as easily as the thinnest wire does. Also, if I have to cut wire inside the instrument the cut angle is perfect for grabbing the wire straight away. It's about time that American manufacturers get thier credit! Xuron is an example of many small companies in the US building very high quality and innovative products. Look over your shoulder world, we are coming again!

I was a little suspicious this cutter might not be heavy-duty enough to cut .062 piano wire well, but it does a good job -- without letting the wire ends fly or flattening the wire. Makes an accurate cut and it's easy to see where the cut line will be. Very little end finishing is required after the cut and it comes out much more square than my previous attempts with other cutters. The leverage is surprisingly good for a small hand tool (the jaws are very close to the fulcrum) and it holds up under regular use without apparent dulling. Nice tool, good price!

It's ingenious how on both sides the wire is clamped perfectly square by little guides before the cleaving jaws in the middle do the hard work. Very easy on your hands. Currently I'm using it to cleave No.14 aluminum nail heads off so I can use the shafts as cheap aluminum rods. They work ideally with very hard music wire too even in an extended period production environment used by a dainty assistant who isn't the usual muscular handyman.

This shear is specifically designed to cut music wire and other hard or tough wire up to 0.060" (1.5mm) in diameter. I got it for cutting some 0.013" nylon coated stranded stainless steel miniature cable. I needed a clean, staight cut and this tool did the job.
As with any tool, don't use this for material for which it isn't designed. Music wire or stainless steel is fine; hardened tool steel, for example, would probably damage the tool.

I purchased a different set from an unknown manufacturer that turned out to be not what I was hoping for. This product worked great to cut the strings off an old 1902 upgrade cabinet grande (I know it is only marketing, but it is the taller upright non the less), and there were no issues with any of those string sizes (up to size 19 wires). I would recommend this product for cutting, but for getting in super tight for the cleanest possible finish (for restringing per se), I would probably recommend the exceedingly expensive Starrett cutters. They are the best money can buy, but unnecessary for what I was using them for.

I got this cutter to create tiny rivets out of copper wire for plugging thermal vias under chips on printed circuit boards.
I needed a method of cutting the wire square, and this does the trick!

I got this to cut the ends off strings for guitars and violins, so far it's worked great. Can't say how it will hold up,but it looks like it should do well

I bought these for deconstructing a piano. I was extremely leery of cutting piano wire at first, but after the first few snips-and getting used to the sparks created - it was no big deal. These cut through the wire with very little effort. Not totally sure I will ever have any use for them again, but I highly recommend them to anyone who needs to cut piano wire.
