I do chainmail jewelry so I spend a lot of time opening and closing rings of all sizes (all in tempered aluminum). After breaking my first pair of bent nose pliers, I got a second pair that just wasn't what I was looking for, so I started looking for a third. A friend recommended these to me and, since she's been making jewelry for a rather long time (and is the one that recommend bent nose pliers to me in the first place) I decided to try them.

Boy, am I glad I did! They looked so thin when I got them, but those jaws don't move at all, even with my large gauge aluminum rings (16 "gauge", about 1.5mm think rings). The small tips get into the little places I need them to and still hold tight to things well.

I did file the jaws smoother as aluminum is easy to mar up, but I doubt most other metals would even notice the small 'edge' that was on the jaws of these. This is something to be aware of, though. Didn't take me long at all to smooth them out by hand.

The handle is actually very comfortable. I was expecting to have to do some adjustments to it, but I've found it fits nicely into my hands, better than any other pliers I've had. The material is a very solid plasticy-rubber with a quite nice 'velvety' feel to it. I have long hands for a female and they don't extend past my hands but aren't too small either. Even my husband said the fit is nice (and his hands are a bit bigger than mine).

These are also very well oiled (had to clean some off) which is better than most pliers I've tried (got a few other pairs before getting these ones and one was so stiff it took quite a bit of dousing with 3in1 to get them moving smoothly), and the jaws open quite wide as well if it's something that's important to you.

I needed these to do fine work on electronics boards. The bent nose pliers I was using were just too large. These fill the bill. The only reason I gave these 4 stars instead of 5 is that they only meet at the very tip and do not meet all the way down the pliers, as my larger ones do. They still seem to work but it was just disturbing that they were manufactured this way. The handle is soft and comfortable and the spring is good. I don't have a spring on the larger ones. The way they work they seem to be closer to being tweezers than pliers but for the price I'll keep them. I would recommend them but others should know what they're getting.

This company Xuron makes a fantastic set of well made at a reasonable price tools for jewelry projects. The handles are soft and easy to to use. The head of the pliers are sturdy. Overall these pliers are a perfect addition for any jewelry designer/project persosn box of tools.

XURON is the BEST of the BEST when it comes to making a quality tool for any application. I have bought a lot of tools over the years and now ALL of my small hobby tools are by XURON. You can not do any better than a XURON tool for durability and engineering and they stand behind their products.

Bent nose plier are a necessity for the hobby jewelry maker. I purchased two pairs of them and use them primarily for opening and closing jump rings, much more control, excellent if you are into making chain mail jewelry also

Small, sturdy, effective. Great for reaching tight places for small assemblies. They fit in locations where you might use tweezers, but provide the rigidity you sometimes need.

Another of the good quality pliers that I have purchased through amazon at a great price that leave fewer scuffs on repairs to antique or costume jewelry I repair. Great item.

Movement is smooth, metal is rounded with a nice finish and the grips are very comfortable. I also like that the spring is integrated so it can't fall off or easily break.
