I have recently started working in chainmaille and my material of choice is bright aluminum wire. I had been using aviation snips which cut the wire but tends to distort the rings. I had recently bought these cutters to replace a pair that were damaged. I tried them on 4 gauges of aluminum from 20 gauge up to 14. The cut is nice and clean and the ring ends are barely offset. I am so pleased that I'm going to order a second pair so I will be sure I'll always have access to them. They are a bit more pricey than some of the other cutters out there but they still aren't expensive and they are well worth the price.

I'm very pleased with Xuron quality. I selected the 9100 Oval Head because they are rated to cut heavier wire than other models. However there is a trade off: the Oval Head is not small. For me it does not fit into tight spaces, such as between pins of IC sockets. Xuron makes cutters with smaller heads, but understandably they do not cut heavy wires. I wish I could afford several different sizes!

I bought these for electronics work. They cut copper and aluminum wire easily. No problem with other components. They are very sharp and comfortable to hold. Its easy to get into tight spaces with the oval head. They are very flush and cut flat. I highly recommend them to anyone doing delicate electronics work.

I use this to cut my copper and aluminium wire coils into jump rings. Very effective. Should have bought two of them. It does not cut stainless steel wire though. But it is enough for me.

These cutters do a great job cutting solid copper wire. The extra thickness in the jaws is not a problem for most jobs. I use the 45 degree tool for finer cutting jobs.
2015 March 8 update: I tried cutting a steel wire holding a tag to a water valve I bought yesterday. Oops. They now have little notches in the cutting surfaces. Don't cut steel with these.
Buying another pair of these fantastic cutters for their intended purpose (soft metal, plastics etc.)
