The cost may seem a little expensive for a small tool this size, but this Xuron LX Micro Shear Flush Cutter is a precision implement, close to, if not the equal of, similar tools intended specifically for electronics or orthodonture. Its design has the benefits of scissors and the benefits of snips at the same time: the handles work easily (no spring involved), but the blades are designed in such a way that they make a clean cut without clinking the two blades together, ensuring that its hone will hold much longer than ordinary shears.

I am finding all kinds of uses for mine, such as dismantling plastic-coated paper clips and making that last little snip that keeps a hand-clipped photo or newspaper article from looking raggedy. This Xuron's intended purpose, though, is to deal with small wire (including coated wire) of 16 AWG or higher (higher AWG numbers = smaller gauges of wire) and for that I'm sure it performs very well. For hobbyists and others bedeviled by loose or fallen small screws, the tip holds a magnetic charge well (I used an inexpensive Wiha 40010 two-chambered magnetizer/demagnetizer[q.v.].) Just make sure to demagnetize the Xuron after use or keep it away from electronic components or wristwatches.

This Xuron XL Micro Shear Flush Cutter is made in Saco, Maine, right here in the USA. Hooray!

One word, GREAT!.
Nicely and professionally designed tools with the cutting edge. Expensive, but for a quality tool like this, I don't think twice to spend the extra buck. After all a good engineer needs a good tool and finally, it is made in America, so it speaks for itself.

It is amazing how much more heavy duty these are over the Xuron 410, they work extremely well. Because the pliers are designed to employ the blade bypass cutting method the blades do not meet, the one goes blade goes under the other. Because of this the tip does not flush cut as well as it does farther back so unless you cannot do otherwise cut as far back as possible.

This is a tool that will last many years, is made in the USA and has a full guarantee unless it is abused.

I never thought I would think such great thoughts about a small little tool that clips the leads from the back of a PCB. It has such a "soft" action due to micro-shear that makes cutting really comfortable. The blades are slightly offset, "which reduces effort and extends tool life". I don't know about the length of tool life, but the effort is greatly reduced, not that it's so important for such a small task, but you'll realize it is when you have to cut thousands of small pieces of metal.

It's a great tool and I'd buy more Xuron products for sure.

These flush cutters were just what I was looking for. I'm a jeweler and they work fine with the wire I use. I'm not sure if I'd use them on thicker wire, such as 12g or 14g but for what I do, they're great. The price was just right, too.

most of my tools got rusty but this cut the grade at the ocean. I would say they are really a good idea, they are useful for some really sharp items you need to get clean surface on, like a burr stuck on something or even your finger nails, they are a dream... or a bubble of glue you need a clean clip off, like scissors aren't going to handle the job, they will not sit flat on the surface. they will cut wires also but I hardly use the for that because they came so sharp and useful for other tiny cuts or surface issues I reserved them for sharpness, get right to something stuck up on something flat and clean cut it off.
