This video demonstrates the Xyron 505 in action (505 uses the same cartridge as this one). Also called the Creative Station, this machine is, in my opinion, the fastest way to create stickers or attach lamination to paper no wider than five inches. The cost of the cartridges makes it expensive for everyday use, but if anyone was making large quantities of items, such as wedding invitations, this would be the way to go. Also, I want to add that Xyron's customer service is excellent. They replaced a machine that wasn't working properly -- even though I may have damaged it by forcing the cartridge in too strongly.

I actually didn't think sticker makers were this cheap. I googled this thing with trepidation, guessing that something as jazz hand deserving as a sticker maker would be light years beyond my price range, but it's like, nope, haha, you can totally afford this. A moment of silent victory ensued on my part. ("Can I get a hell yeah?" a little voice inside my head said. "Heck yeah," I whispered back, because hell is not a very polite word to use before Christmas.)

And then there was the waiting period, which was pretty speedy, all things considered. It got here before Christmas, and that's what truly matters in the end. There is nothing more deserving of a disappointed shake of the head than a package that arrives on the 26th.

And we can talk about how cute this thing is, right? It's like a little square plastic cat that just sits in your lap whilst you happily turn the knob and make little sticky crafty things. Incredibly simple, so there's no need to worry about technical problems. I mean it. I'd be impressed if you somehow managed to screw up turning a knob. Doesn't poop or get sick or anything, either. So it agreeably beats any sentient domesticated creature in that regard.

The only issue I have with my feline substitute is that there's no warning when your cartridge is about to run out. So you might have a piece of work you put a elephantine amount of love and care into, only to have it gobbled and spat out half un-sticky. So check the inner workings of your quasi-cat regularly, and try to conserve cartridge by conglomerating your works. Don't do them individually.

If you are tired of struggling with wet glue, or double-sided tape, but you need total adhesive coverage, then this is a "must have" for your papercrafting projects! Just feed your paper in, face up, and out it comes with a backing paper, ready to adhere to your project, just like a sticker! I had the little 2-inch version, and loved it. It really was a fun tool. But, hey, it was only 2-inches, which limits it's uses, right? When I was looking to purchase a refill roll, I discovered this larger version. A 5-inch sticker maker? I immediately thought of all those odd-shaped paper or cardstock pieces, or die cuts, or even photos! How perfect for card-making uses! It's as simple as feeding the piece in, rotating the dial, and out it comes, on a backing paper, ready to use on your project. Talk about easy! The adhesive covers the entire piece, like a sticker, but without wrestling with glues, or tape runners to get into every nook and cranny! AND, it's really kind of fun to use! I take the extra step to make sure to "burnish" the piece while it's still on the backing paper prior to adhering to my project. It's simple: I just lay a piece of wax paper over the top of the "sticker" while it's still attached to the backing paper (for protection), and burnish the entire surface with my bone folder, so that I am rubbing on the wax paper, not my nice clean new sticker underneath. Then lift off the wax paper, gently peel the "sticker" from the backing paper, and place it right on my card, or paper project, and press down gently, but firmly to stick! It's one of those things that you don't know you need it, until you try it!

I bought this as a gift for someone, hoping it wasn't just a pointless toy (which it looks like).

Without reading the instructions or doing anything but looking to see which way to turn the knob, we stuck a business card in it and it came out a sticker complete with removable backing!

It puts the glue right up to edges of your item so it sticks flat and there's absolutely no hassle.

Make sure you don't waste any of it, so put things in lengthwise or glue smaller things side by side at the same time. you can stick things in up to about 1/8 inch so thick, that's pretty thick (about as thick as 25 sheets of paper).

I am still amazed that something so simple and cheap can work so well. I was fully prepared to be disappointed!

Highly Recommend for whatever your purpose.

I was excited to add this to my craft stock for cards, stickers, etc. I bought it on sale, and couldn't resist it. It works great on paper--I've created little stickers, and even re-stickied a sticker that was put on a little note from when I was in Kindergarten (I'm a memento whore).

Even though it says it works on fabric--I had some trouble with that. I wanted to cover a coffee tin with fabric and keep my son's crayons in there. The fabric went through the machine just fine, but peeling it off was difficult, and I didn't think it was sticky enough. It stayed on the tin, but maybe someday there will be some special fabric cartridge for this purpose?

I would highly recommend this for paper crafts!
