Book Description

November 1, 1998
The only cure is time, and time is running out. The Year 2000 computer bug, potentially affecting our banks, government, phone companies, electric companies, and Social Security system, could be one of the largest "bugs" to hit the entire world-all in one day. Shaunti Feldhahn, former financial analyst at the Federal Reserve, provides the most up-to-date facts on Y2K in a thoughtful, down-to-earth, and entertaining manner. Presenting the substantive advice of Christian leaders such as Larry Burkett, Henry Blackaby, Pat Robertson, and Ron Blue, she shows that Y2K is an opportunity to minister to others and to see God glorified in unique ways.

More About the Author

Shaunti Feldhahn is a popular public speaker, research analyst and best-selling author with 2 million copies of her books sold in 18 different languages. She holds a Master in Public Policy with a concentration in business from Harvard University, and worked on Wall Street as an analyst and on Capitol Hill before becoming a surprise bestselling author and relationship researcher. This wife of attorney-entrepreneur Jeff Feldhahn and mother of two, now applies her analytical skills to the startling research of what men privately think in the workplace but rarely share; perceptions that often fundamentally affect their female colleagues.

After launching her latest book, The Male Factor: The Unwritten Rules, Misperceptions and Secret Beliefs of Men in the Workplace, on The Today Show in January 2010, Shaunti is now speaking to corporate groups about her surprising findings. This knowledge has proven to be of great interest to talented, high-potential women in the workplace as well as to men who want to cultivate positive working relationships. Just as if they were doing business in a foreign culture, women find knowledge of the "internal" male culture immediately valuable in overcoming obstacles they may not have been aware of before, and having the greatest possible effectiveness and influence with male bosses, colleagues, subordinates or clients.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ludicrous and naive in both faith and organizational matters, February 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Y2K: The Millennium Bug-A Balanced Christian Response (Paperback)
Ms. Feldhahn has entered another of the "woe is us" voices to the litany of opinions concerning the turn of the millenium phenomenon, this time adding an evangelical (and rather paranoid) "Christian" perspective. She is remarkably unqualified to write either as a theologian or as an expert on the practical consequences of the calender rollover. Long on diatribe and fantasy and short on facts, her book reflects the evangelical tendency to view every occurrence in the world as being aimed directly at them: in this case, the millenium is changing just to "get" those who love God the "right way" (that is, from Ms. Feldhahn's faith perspective). It is remarkable to me why anyone who believes the words of the Bible would be gripped by such a spirit of fear as is reflected in this book. The book also offers advice on how to survive this "catastrophe," recommending such things as stockpiling food and hiding cash in your home. (I wonder if the publishers will be willing to reimburse the interest their readers will lose on the $10,000 this book recommends persons should withdraw from their banks and keep at home.) And while the author also preaches that good Christians should be prepared to be charitable with those unprepared or unable to meet this soon coming crisis, she also encourages these faithful to keep cash on hand to be able to take full advantage of the great investment deals that will surely come out of all this loss and suffering. An interesting combination of advice, to say the least. It is fascinating to me why any publishing company that is about to be devastated (along with every other business in the world) when the calender hits January 1st would waste time and resources printing this (or any) book. Certainly their time would be better spent liquidating their assets and constructing a shelter capable of lasting this apocalypse. Or could it be that even they don't believe this book?

I'm giving Miss Feldhahn's book a full 5-star rating. Obviously this woman was so very wrong - even her 'Joseph Project 2000' [a np org. devoted to Y2K prep.] was a wreck.

Anyone care to watch 'Night of the Comet' now - after you find this book for one penny here on Amazon, of course.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Much Needed Addition to the Y2K Noise, March 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Y2K: The Millennium Bug-A Balanced Christian Response (Paperback)
Although I thought the book contained a few too many stories the practical suggestions and organizational hints were excellent. Ms. Feldhahn writes, as she should, from a Christian perspective and suggests to readers who might share her faith, how one might address this largely unanswerable issue in light of Christian faith. Prudent preparation not panic and faith instead of fear are the order of the day! Ms. Feldhahn does a tremendous job of presenting the case for both!
