Rock Band?!,

This review is from: YAMAHA ELEC PERC KICK TOWER 2 BEATER SURFACE (DTXPRESS/DTXPLORER) (Electronics)
I'm not a musician. I play drums on Rock Band. Go ahead and laugh about it. The plastic pedal that comes with the Rock Band kit is garbage, and I broke through two of them before picking up a used bass pedal from my local music store. So I modified the pedal and took off the striker. Then I played, and while it worked without a target for resistance at the end of the stroke the pedal just didn't feel right.
That's where this kick tower comes in. It's just a target. I could have used an ottoman, but the hollow cavity actually resonates, so that was abandoned. I could have stacked up bricks or nailed together some lumber but that was way too trashy and family UN-friendly. I am NOT plugging this kick tower into the Rock Band kit. I tried that and it does NOT work with the stock Rock Band kit as a sensor. I'm assuming that when plugged into an electric drum kit these get a small amount of power to them to gauge the strike. The wireless Rock Band kits do not work by just plugging in this thing. After almost a year of use this thing is still fantastic and serves it's purpose as a sound-deadened striking surface. I suppose I could have purchased someone's non-functional kick tower, but no one sells them when they are broken. For all I know this target is broken, but I'll never know. It works for what I got it for, so it gets five stars.

Famtastic Kick Tower for the DD-55!,

This review is from: YAMAHA ELEC PERC KICK TOWER 2 BEATER SURFACE (DTXPRESS/DTXPLORER) (Electronics)
I thought after buying the DD-55 drum machine it would be a walk in the park find a kick tower for it. WRONG! There is only one kick tower that works with it and that is the Yamaha Kick Tower 2. If you have a DD-55 it is worth the investment. The Tower provides a good feel and a nice solid kick. I am very pleased with mine. I also would recommend buying a Gibralter kick pedal with the chain mechanism. The leather type is useless. Let me also add that the going price on Amazon is better than that you will find on e-bay. It is the free postage and handling that makes it the better bargain.

I replaced my KP-60 on my DTXpress which wasn't responding correctly. This kick pad is great and was shipped quickly. I couldn't be happier with it.
