4.0 out of 5 stars The little camera that could. September 15, 2012
I got this camera back in 1988 as my very first camera, with my very own money that I saved up, so that I could take part in a Photography Course in College. It was about $300 back then and it came with a 50mm Yashica lens and Yashica flash too. I served me well over the 11 years I used it. It was very reliable and never broke down or malfunction.

It was an all-manual camera and for most, this scared them off, since there were other cameras out there with automatic features. Yet I needed a camera that could do manual, so I chose this one. It never let me down.

Today, some professionals will admit, this is a good film-camera, because they know that it is really the glass that makes the image, not the camera.

I did managed to drop mine from about two feet up from my tripod onto concrete floor, after about 3 years of owning it, but it never stopped giving me great captures. The plastic housing at the base is damaged, but it still works -- that's a testament to quality right there. After about 11 years, the film advance lever finally started giving me issues, but I found with light tapping of the camera on a hard surface, it would allow the film lever to be freed and the film could be advanced (again, without any issues to the film).

It was at that point that I upgraded to the Minolta 35mm system, but I still have that old Yashica, still works, but I hardly use it now.

I gave it a 4 star rating, mainly because the film-advance lever failed after only 11 years, and I don't see the need to get it repaired since the digital age is here. All in all, it is a good camera if you still have one, have taken better care of it than I have. It is a true work-horse.

If you buy this one for sale on Amazon, for mere hobby or novelty, you won't be disappointed.
