I bought the Yimby tumbling composter Through an Amazon affiliate (Wayfair) for $97.34. It was fairly easy to assemble, and I instantly put it to use. It was about half the capacity of my old Earth Machine compost barrel, so when I got an offer for a second one from the supplier - Wayfair again - at a discount, I bought a second composter for $75! I took pictures of the assembly and posted them in detail on my Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10200942320501147&set=a.10200942291380419.1073741826.1259915743&type=1&theater

The compost tumbler is doing great! The first side has finished compost and the second side is "cooking", and getting there. I bought a second compost tumbler (I posted pictures of it on FB), and while the second side of the first one is composting, I am adding to the first side of the second one. I'll soon use the finished compost to side-dress my okra in the vegetable garden.

I started the compost about 10 April, and it was ready about 2 months later. Don't believe the hype about compost in 14 days. Two months is a lot quicker than the average compost pile. Of course, I was continually adding to it for about a month, so you could say it took about a month from the time I stopped adding stuff. I would tumble it back and forth and around every few days. It doesn't need tumbling every day. Just be sure to add enough dry brown materials, so your compost doesn't become a soggy, wet, anaerobic mess.

UPDATE, one year later: Both my Yimby tumbling composters made it well through the rough winter, much colder and snowier than usual for this area. In spring I had two wheelbarrow loads of compost, which I put in my vegetable garden before planting tomatoes, beans, and okra.

Its made out of a very durable plastic and the legs are tin. This works very nice for what I need. It is not super heavy but its not so light that it can be blown over and gets heavier as it fills up.
I love the double chambers! It makes it easy for when you start seeing good soil to leave it alone and start on the next chamber. I am a woman I only weigh 135. and it take just a little effort depending on how full it is too turn it but really once you get the hang of it it is really easy,,,The only thing is there is no lock on it so you have to make sure it is closed correctly but I have not had any problems with getting rain or moisture in mine.
All around I am happy with this purchase....and would recommend it to anyone who does regular domestic composting!

This composter came in many pieces, but all fit together perfectly. When assembling, be sure to notice one section of the side wheel panels that have a hole and need to match and be in the top most position before starting to affix the remaining panels. I like the two compartments and find that rotating the composter is easy. I currently have one side 'cooking' and it's noticeably warm. My only criticism is that the openings to the inside bins are a bit small. This is not a composter for a big yard with lots of long stalks and much plant material waste. That said, I'd buy another.

I loved the idea of this and it works great. I put it together by myself with a cordless driver and a wrench, but a second pair of hands to balance things etc. would have made the process much quicker and easier.

I've been using this compost tumbler for almost a year now. My family of four eats a mess of fruits and vegetables, and this thing has really lived up to the task. The two chambers hold quite a bit, and it's fairly easy to turn. Of course the dark color help the cooking process too, and the footprint is fairly small. I have just recently gotten to the point where I feel like its time to empty chamber #1 so I can let #2 finish cooking. It's been several months and #1 is a beautiful rich black now, with nothing recognizable left except avocado pits and some egg shells.

A few things to keep in mind: This is a domestic compost, and it will attract pests and it might stink. It will probably ooze black liquid from cracks and vents. Thats all normal. I haven't had any trouble with smell since I started adding more ruffage, but the flies were fairly bad this summer. Remember: No meat, wheat, or citrus, and a handful or leaves or grass clippings per small load.

I bought MINE last year and I will buy another! SO EASY to Use! The initial assembly is EASY IF you go on line and read the instructions(If you can't figure it out from the written Instructions). I am disabled and am amazed that so many people had problems putting it together. I received a Defective Panel, so I called the Manufacturer. with in 3 days, I received the panel PLUS an extra one(NO PROBLEM!) They were really nice! I gathered the Few necessary Hand tools, sat in a comfy Chair & watched TV while tightening the screws. When My Hubby came home from work, I had it done. I did have him prime and paint the legs & Metal parts with Rustolium spray(just for added protection). Since I am a beginner at 'Compost making' so I went on the US Govt. EPA/Recycle/Composting site and got lots of GREAT INFO(Including the Do's & Don't LIST), then I went on YouTube videos on Compost-Starting and watched 2 great Videos. WOW... I suggest ALL Beginners to do the same. SOME of the video-makers will even ANSWER your Questions! Anyway, I got my Son, Interested so I will get him and His family one for his Birthday. AND.. I want another one, so I can MAKE special BATCHES for different types of Plants/Fruit Trees Etc. I had asked a friend of mine who had a 'Tumbler' of her own... She had one that sits on the ground on a Plastic/vinyl base and it ROLLS in-place on the base... She can't move it if it has even 1/2 load in it and it DRAWS ants and other creepy crawlers! She is also getting one of these! THANKS YIMBY! Hubby Says he is Happy not to carry any more BAGS of soil etc & happy not to have to Pay for that Black Gold Either! I am thinkinbg about getting some Worms to farm after I get my 2 tumblers going this summer!
