I use invisible (monopoly) thread for machine quilting and applique. I've used invisible thread on three quilts this year, and on countless pieces of applique. I've tried the three major brands, and the YLI brand is the best by far for my purposes. It has a softer feel than the others, the thread is flexible, drapes and does not crinkle, as so many do. It is strong for mono-poly, and there has been no problem washing or ironging. Most importantly for me, it is truly invisible on applique work. It has a slightly matte finish and there is minimal light reflection or "sparkle" from the thread (if you like a LOT of sparkle, try Superior Threads monopoly). I use the thread in the top feed only, with a cotton or cotton-poly in the bobbin. It requires very little machine tweaking - just a touch of an adjustment to the top tension, depending on the project. Highly recommended.

Over the years, I have read suggestions from other sewers about how to use certain products correctly. Well, I want to thank all of those terrific people, because they have helped me so much. YLI Invisible Thread is one such item and it is great. When I threaded my machine with it, I remembered what seasoned seamstresses had written, "Loosen the upper tension just a bit." It worked like a charm. When I stitched using a zig-zag, I loosened the tension a little more and used an overcast foot (the one with the little wire that adds extra give/loosening to the thread). That worked great. I ALWAYS use cotton thread in the bobbin, also. Another tidbit from a sewing angel. It feels super to be able to sew with confidence, avoiding mistakes that take a lot of time to fix and ruin projects. God bless you all. Thank you.

I've had a lot of success using this to machine quilt using my household sewing machine (not a long-arm quilting machine). I use it in the top thread and cotton thread in the bobbin. It was a joy to work with.

Its pretty strong for invisible thread .Adequate in quantity and can be used on upholstery fabric like in making pillows . Ive used it to smock and create patterns on cotton linen and hemp and its pretty clean. The thread does have some elasticity to it which should be kept in mind if you are loading a bobbin / adjusting the thread tension.

I just used this for the first time to finish a baby quilt. It is so invisible I had trouble finding the ends to snip off. Quilted the whole quilt without one breakage. Love it.

This is a great product. Exactly what I was looking for to do some invisible applique. It is a nice sized spool so I will have plenty for future projects. It is not too thick, not too thin. It worked very well with my basic Brother machine. I didn't have to make any adjustments for it and didn't have any problems like some others.

I just tested this thread in my singer sewing machine and it worked great. I also used it only on the top spool and used normal cotton thread in the bobbins. Also you should set the tension to be quite a bit lower to prevent breakage.

I use invisible thread for all my quilting and got tired of running out of thread and having to buy it retail. I ordered three spools of this thread, it's the same weight as the smaller spools, but it will last me a long, long time.
