I have used this book year after year since it appeared in 2000. I have used it to train YMCA instructors as well as for teaching college water fitness classes. The college rated it at an 11th grade reading level, and we use it for first year students, although they do not receive certification. It is the best book on the market for this purpose.
My main complaint is that it is now 8 years old and needs to be revised to include more recent research. The other change I would suggest is to get rid of any commercial references, such as the sea creature-themed workout at the back of the book, or the trademarked Golden Waves workout. I tried to contact the creator of the sea-themed one, but the contact information is wrong or expired. A classic book such as this should contain timeless information wherever possible, and not information tied only to one individual. |
