7" Cake but very bad package,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Ya-Hoo! Baking Co Tiramisu Layer Cake, 44-Ounce Box (Grocery)
This is my first time ordering a 'should-be-fresh' cake online, although 70% things in my house are ordered online.
1, I must emphasize it is a 7" cake, high layer. According to its weight(44oz), I think it should be 9" because regular 7" cake should be around 30 oz. It is heavy because of the taller layer and moisture level. 2, The package is very bad, only foam, no dry ice; and also, there is no box to store it in refrigerator. The cake almost lost its shape when it arrived, even it was protected by a slip of paperboard. The shipping is around $24 (but paid by amazon), but there is no dry ice for this cake, which should be kept cool; this make the cake lose its fresh taste. The worst is no box for this cake to store in refrigerator. I didn't know why the company can't put the cake into a small plastic box around it, because putting a half cake into refrigerator without cover will make it lose moisture. 3, The taste of the cake could be better if it under a better package with dry ice. The texture of the cake is ok, the top cream layer is around 0.5", the mouse layer between is 0.25" layer, so it is a 'light' mouse cake. I didn't like very sweet cake, so it is fine for me without too much sweet cream. 4, As to the quality to price ratio, I will give three star for this cake. The price already included the shipping, although amazon said it is 'free ship'. QVC has a very nice look 'Tiramisu' cheese cake shipped with dry ice, but I didn't like any 'cheese cake'. Then I see amazon has this one, which is not 'whole cheese cake'; for loyalty to Amazon, so I ordered it. I give four-star for the cake because I think the taste and shape could be better if this cake was under correct package and shipping. |
