5.0 out of 5 stars This is Mecano's best!! No doubt, August 6, 2006
By
This review is from: Ya Viene El Sol (Audio CD)
The first time I heard "Ya viene el sol" was actually the first time I heard just anything from Mecano. I was [...], and was profundly inspired and moved by these incredible songs.

'No pintamos nada' is a great techno song, great sound considering we're talking about the early-eighties. One of the things I really love about this album is the loud drum-sound (check this song and 'Busca algo barato'), that usage of drum-sound is rare among pop artists and it sounds just great.

'Ya viene el sol' is one of the most original songs I have ever heard in my life. There's nothing that can compare to this. The lyrics are weird also (basically talking about basking in the sun).

'La estacion' always make me feel nostalgic about my childhood. Very emotive track.

'Hawaii-bombay' is the most known track of the album, very beautiful musically. (I used to think Bombay was a paradise until somebody from India told me it's not like that).

'Mosquito'... well... I don't wanna talk about this one.

'Busca algo barato' again has that loud drum beat that makes the song so cool.

'Aire' is arguably Mecano's best song ever... the lyrics about being transformed in a wind stream and the things that happen after that is one of the crazyest non-weed stories I've ever heard. The music is incredible and so is Ana's voice.

'Me rio de Janeiro' is a somewhat comical track that I used to love when I was a kid and still I find very enjoyable. In spanish it is a word game about "laughing" at the city of Rio de Janeiro and it also means to "perform" a personal carnival by dressing flamboyantly.

'Japan' is a high-tech track, very accurate with a high-tech and extremely organized country as Japan.

'El mapa de tu corazón' is a beautiful ballad about letting go someone that you love.

In conclusion, this is Mecano's best album, although their next albums are also great, they were never as cool, original and fresh as this one, that remains to be an icon of techno-pop music.

5.0 out of 5 stars My first Mecano cd, and i'm still not sick of it!, January 19, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ya Viene El Sol (Audio CD)
I honestly hated Mecano's music when I first heard it. However, when I heard Hawaii-Bombay and Aire, I really wanted to buy the CD. The whole album is wonderful. I love Mecano because of their creativity. All of the songs are different; that's why they don't bore me. This is a great relief to me from everything else on the radio.

3.0 out of 5 stars This album was originally released in the EARLY eighties., October 1, 1998

This album was originally released in the EARLY eighties. Though there is nothing wrong with retro this particular album is not a great achievement for such a great band like Mecano. They definitely got better with time. I give it three stars instead of 0ne because of track 7 "Aire". That song alone is worth the dough.
