5.0 out of 5 stars WHERE'S THE YACHT'S SECOND ALBUM ON CD?, September 3, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Yachts (Audio CD)
The Yacht's put out a follow-up LP in the U.S. entitled "Without Radar" in 1980 (Catalog No. RAD 27; Polydor PD-1-6270). This LP contains classic songs such as "Life Saving is Easy" and "March of the Moderates." The Japanese CD release of the Yacths first U.S. LP (which I own) is simply title "Yachts" (WPCR-10017), and while it includes gems such as "Yachting Type" and "Semaphore Love," it does not include "march of the Moderates." The packaging, which is superb, has liner notes in Japanese and song lyrics in English. The only drawback is that the highs seem a bit rolled off. But this is a minor flaw - if you can find this CD (now out of print I'm told), buy it. If you cannot find it, try finding it in LP form if you still own a turntable, and console yourself in the meantime with Rhino's "Starry Eyes" "DIY" CD compilation (R2 71174), released in 1993 but I believe still in print, which includes the group's best song, "Yachting Type." If you like what you hear, contact Polydor and/or independant labels to demand that both Yachts CD's be remastered and released on a single CD. The Yacht's two albums make much of the over-hyped music coming out of England today pale in comparison.

5.0 out of 5 stars An all-time classic., March 2, 2007
By
This review is from: Yachts (Audio CD)
I recently tracked down and bought a Japanese CD copy of "Yachts" after years of looking; it was well worth both the wait and the expense! I already have vinyl copies of their first two singles "Suffice To Say" and "Look Back In Love (Not In Anger)" - both sadly not included on the album -and wanted to replace my long lost vinyl album which I had not heard for about 20 years. The CD is jam-packed with classic pop tunes which stand up extremely well still after over 25 years and the packaging is superb. It is a shame that both this and their second album have not been re-released on CD and made available to a larger audience who, I am sure, would greatly appreciate some quality music from the late 1970s.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Yachts return!, August 9, 2000

This classic of late-70's early 80's BritPop ala Any Trouble or Squeeze apparently has finally been re-leased on CD. Features mod anthems such as "March of the Moderates." A must listen for collectors of the genre.
