Don't Waste Your Money,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Yahoo Transportable Full Feature DVD Player- YDP-700 (Electronics)
I currently own a 9 inch screen portable DVD player from Panasonic (LS-90)and I love it. I was looking for an inexpensive DVD player that I could use in the house to hook up to the TV and give my other one a break so I decided to go with the Yahoo DVD player. I didn't mind that it didn't have a screen because I could always use my primary player for road trips, etc. The Yahoo player doesn't have an on/off switch so the player's motor constantly runs if not unplugged after every use. I owned it about 30 days when I first experienced a problem with the player reading some movies I attempted to play and I unplugged it and gave it another try after a few minutes. Bottom line is it burned out in 60 days from the date of purchase and of course you can't return electronic items after 30 days so I'm stuck with a $50 piece of plastic that doesn't work. Buyer beware is all I can tell you.

Not for thinking outside the box.,
This review is from: Yahoo Transportable Full Feature DVD Player- YDP-700 (Electronics)
I did not review this product as a DVD video player. Rather, I bought this specifically as an audio player for playing mp3 CDs and mp3 DVDs. In my search for a portable mp3 player I decided to avoid an ipod for the sheer fact that it's an overpriced laptop hard drive, although it does has a bit of software on it, a plastic covering, buttons and an LCD screen... I've been trying to find a way around buying one. I needed a portable mp3 player that could do at least 4 gigs, but the 4 gig ipods are really expensive [as are its competitor's products]. Ideally, I wanted to find a portable DVD player that played mp3s; specifcally, something that played mp3s from burned DVDs, ran off batteries, didn't have a screen, and was the size of a portable CD player. Since it would play DVDs, it would also mean backward compatibility with regular Audio CDs. So I bought this Yahoo Transportable Full Feature DVD Player - YDP-700Apparently, I was the first one on the Internet to buy one because I wasn't able to find a review of it anywhere. Therefore, I relied solely on the description of the product online. Unfortunately, It turned out to be not what I wanted. It was a slick-looking, ultra-small DVD player, but it was not portable it was only transportable (meaning it didn't run off batteries, only an A/C adapter). Although it play my burned DVD-R with mp3s on them, it skipped a bunch of tracks. I did a lot of research on several products before deciding on this one. I did find a Sony portable DVD player that played my burned mp3 DVDs just fine, but its higher price was because it had a screen. The whole point of this featured Yahoo product is it's small, portable size and lack of screen. The only legitamate alternate option is an ipod or a cellphone that can play several gigs worth of mp3s.
