Product Description

Platform: Xbox 360

In YAIBA: NINJA GAIDEN Z, players will battle fierce zombies as Yaiba, a cyborg ninja who will do anything to get revenge and stay alive. Cleaved in two, he is brought back to life with cyber technology. Brandishing his ninja sword and the mecha weapons in his cyborg arm, he slaughters zombies with brutal, over the top abandon. Step into a stylized living comic book where stunning graphics depict a world gone mad. Hordes of undead can only be stopped by Yaiba's willingness to use any means necessary to get the job done. Will he kill by turning his cyborg arm into a razor chainsaw for slicing up undead or just rip off an opponent's arms to use as zombie nun chucks. Both possibilities fill Yaiba's heart with twisted laughter in this upcoming collaboration between famed developers Team NINJA and concept's Keiji Inafune.

Well I'm a huge fan of Ninja Gaiden and felt that they redeemed the debacle that was the third entry with Razor's Edge, the tweaked mea culpa re-release of that game. I pre-ordered Yaiba, knowing full well that it was being developed by Spark Unlimited, a studio that does not have a good reputation. I picked it up this morning after reading the negative reviews from numerous outlets, including Edge's 2/10 and GameSpot's 4/10 scores, and must say after that after a couple of hours in that I simply cannot see why this game wasn't scored at least "average."

First of all, I want to say that if you're the kind of person who expects 100 hours of gameplay from every game you play, who thinks that only games like GTA and Skyrim deserve your full $60, then don't buy this game, because those 4/10 and 2/10 scores are written for people with your taste and criteria in game purchases. I respect people who crave value for their hard-earned money; at the same time, I vow to support the dying category of AA, mid-tier, single player games because those are the games I grew up with. I have no problem paying $60 for a game that fits my tastes, regardless of playtime.

I love the Ninja Gaiden series and hack and slash games in general. Some find them repetitive and that's understandable; however, I personally love the feeling of mastering an action game, figuring out enemy attack patterns, and conquering it on different difficulty levels. The best games in the Ninja Gaiden series stand toe to toe with God of War, Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta. Yaiba is a spin-off and doesn't quite reach those heights, but I'm finding this game to be a really fun experience so far. The graphics have a gorgeous, neon comic book style, the action is fast and fluid, and the game is pretty challenging.

This is the game for you! I read a lot of poor reviews before mine arrived, and to be honest, was a little worried. But it turns out, this is one of the most action packed games I've played in a long time and I've been having a blast playing it! The graphics are awesome, the controls are fluid and responsive, the humor is crude but hilarious, the story itself was even pretty good. If you are looking for a bloody good time, look no more. But be warned, if you are looking for the same 'ol ninja gaiden, this is not it. This game plays quite a bit different than previous ninja gaiden games. But if you can play this with an open mind and know that it is it's own game and yaiba is in no way a ryu clone you will be very happy. The game is a challenge (even on easy), you can't just button mash or you will not get far. It's easy to pick up and play but there are lots of technical combos using your 3 weapons and grabs that will take a while to learn. I could go on and on, just know it's a great game with a lot of really cool stuff(I didn't even get into all the crazy elemental effects and combinations) and if you like ultra ninja violence, tough boss fights, comic book like graphics, cybernetic enhancements, tons of different zombie executions and revenge, this game is very much for you.

So this obviously not your traditional Ninja Gaiden game. This is a fast paced button masher. There are combos and a skill tree but it just ends up pressing as many buttons as possible. It has a ton of humor which was cool. It's a fun game but a try before you buy.

I'm no Ninja Gaiden expert.
The only other one I actually liked was the original arcade version.
Thought I have played and somewhat enjoyed the others... minus the whole infuriatingly hard BS every one clamors over...
But this one I really enjoyed enough to play multiple times. It's simple, wacky and just the right difficulty.
Maybe not for you, but it definitely was for me!
Avoid if you are sensitive to more than average vulgarity and penis jokes...

I love this game, it's a bit difficult for me, especially the Ninja Gaiden Z arcade mode itself, but I'm not hardcore into these types of games, overall I loved it, had a blast, fun bosses and main boss has personality and makes me laugh.

Don't buy it! Don't rent it! Unless you only want to play through the first 4 missions! There is a fatal glitch in mission 5 (a boss fight) where you have to button mash to fill up a power bar. The problem is that the game either will not allow the power meter to fill completely- which you have to do, or will not recognize it when the power bar is full. This can either happen at the first or second button mashing sequence, but either way there is no way to continue the game. You have to win this button mashing crap in at least three or four sequences, but it glitches in the first two. There is no possible way to know if this glitch will occur without playing through the first four missions. If it happens you've wasted several hours completely with no possible way to finish the game! Just don't play it! Don't watse your time!

Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z is a AWESOME game!!!! I had been anticipating this game for years prior to its release. This game delivers.......The story is different. You play a bad/evil protagonist (Yaiba). You are brought back from the dead to kill Ryu Hyabusa (Ninja Gaiden). To get to him, you must go through hordes of zombies,ect....to get to him. You are hooked up with a bad ass robotic arm. It can do all kinds of s***! The game play is great, the graphics are cell shaded and look like a blend of comic books and a Japanese flick merged! The music is rocking and the sound effects are great! The characters are different and in a odd, but good way! You can level up, upgrade weapons, get new combos,ect... there is a lot of action and worth the pick up!!! This version with the comic book,DLC, and soundtrack is sweet!!!! I highly recommend this.
