I was turned onto Pucho in the early 70s while at college. As a former African Drummer, I was immediately turned on the to driving rhythms and could feel the serious connection made to our historical culture through his music! Through my days of black conciseness, Pucho and other great musicians (Gill Scott-Heron, Roy Ayers, Mongo Santamaria, Joe Cuba, 'Trane, Coleman, et al.,) influenced the rhythm of the streets, the dynamics of the movement, and the force of the black and Latino community! Dropping the record needle on any cut and you were instantly transformed!
Yaina. One word. One rhythm. One soul. Simply masterful work by Pucho and the Latin Soul Brothers...Ole skool!!
