Product Description

Amazon.com

A king cobra isn't your garden-variety reptile, just as the Yakima King Cobra isn't your garden-variety bike mount. Easy to load and reasonably priced, the King Cobra mounts atop the roof of your car, fitting on most vehicles with round or square crossbars. Once you've installed the unit, simply slip the front wheel into the locking jaws, strap the rear wheel down, and you're set. Because the King Cobra grabs onto your wheel, it doesn't touch the painted surfaces of your bike, so it won't compromise your bike's paint job. And its versatile design has no problem handling bikes with disc brakes, thru axles, or funky suspensions. Designed to fit any bike with 20- to 29-inch wheels, the King Cobra also includes an integrated security cable within the frame. For even more security, users can add an SKS-compatible security cable (sold separately).

Product Description

The Yakima King Cobra Bike Mount is the ultimate authority on simple, upright mounts, regardless of frame design or wheel size. The King Cobra firmly grips any size wheel from 20" to 29", and easily holds any bike with front suspension or disc brakes. This nifty rack mounts equally well to round or square crossbars, and is quick and easy to load without harming painted surfaces.

Has to be reversed if you have the fairing, or the wheel tightener will not swing past it. They did not design it to work with one of their most common components. When it is flipped around the rack sticks out over my windshield. Plus I think it looks kind of stupid to have your bike backwards up there. The High Roller Rack has the tensioner knob behind the wheel, so this should not be a problem.

Much easier than the Raptor style. I generally had trouble getting the bike up because I'm 5'5'' and everything is happening above my head. It's a little tough to roll forward but it only takes a couple seconds and once I do it's secure. The rear tie-down is a much better design than other previous models.

This bike mount is great on-roof mount if you don't want to remove the tires. It bike feels very secure when strapped in and is easy to use. Only draw back is cuts mpg down considerably. Plan on short drives to location and avoid high speed freeways. Overall, it is a good product.

Great rack. Easy to put your bike on and take off. The only hitch is that you have to be tall enough to put your bike on the rack and have enough body strength to life your bike onto the rack. With a light weight road bike, it is very fast. With a heavier mountain bike, you have to make sure you are very stable before trying to lift and place the bike on the roof. I use a small kid stool, about 1.5 foot high. This seems to do the trick.

Please note that your gas mileage will suffer. My Civic Hybrid went from 43 mpg to 30 mpg with 2 bikes on the roof. Also note that you will not get into most parking garages. Otherwise, it is a great product and gets the bike out of the way. Just remember that the bikes are on the roof before you enter into a garage.
