5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome rack!!!
When you use buy a rack, there are couple of things you want. Ease of installation, confidence in support during your trip and affordable. This product meets and exceeds those requirements. This is the best alternative to a hitch mount. We purchased this rack for my wife's 2006 Ford Freestyle and have not been disappointed. I didn't want to have a hitch installed, so...

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT recommended for 3 bikes when mounted on glass trunk
I like everything about the rack, EXCEPT that calling it a "3-Bike Trunk Mount Rack" is deceptive. The instruction manual advises not to use more than TWO bikes if it is mounted on glass, as with my Ford SUV. Three bikes are apparently okay if used on a conventional trunk. I was looking for a rack that would carry 3.

This is the best alternative to a hitch mount. We purchased this rack for my wife's 2006 Ford Freestyle and have not been disappointed. I didn't want to have a hitch installed, so this rack was perfect. After owning 2-3 racks, I can say with confidence, that his makes the others look cheap. This rack is extremely durable and extremely easy to use. I recommend it to everyone.

3.0 out of 5 stars Yakima works as stated, but dents the car body, July 1, 2010

The Yakima QuickBack 3-Bike Trunk Mount Rack works just as they describe, but any rack designed to put the bearing-weight on the trunk door of a car - like a minivan - ends up denting it. The weight of just 1 adult bike and 2 kid's bikes dented the bottom of our Toyota Sienna minivan's door.
In addition, I DON'T recommend this rack if you have a spoiler at the top of your minivan/car. It can break off the spoiler, due to the way the straps apply pressure to the outer edge.

The design works great if you can place the bottom of the rack on the step/footrest on the back, and you have no spoiler to worry about.

The only other gripe is the glass adapter strap. These have spindles on the end with big rubber cushions (they look like mini barbells) that you put inside the top of the door frame if you have a large glass rear window. The problem arises after you've adjusted them properly and closed the door, then you need to open the door for any reason. The rack shifts down as the barbells are pulled up towards the top of the door. Then when you close the door, you can break the barbell, or worse, the glass window.
You have to re-adjust the rack, which means unloading it, manhandle the rack to get the barbells in the proper place where the door doesn't pinch them or push against the glass window.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bike Rack for 5 Series BMW Touring (Wagons)..We have a WINNER!, May 29, 2009

This seems to be a really good, stable functional trunk-mount bike rack for an '06 BMW 530xi wagon. I tried the Saris Bones RS3 model and it was too awkward trying to get the hard-mounted lower tabs to fit on the lift gate. The Yakima works because all the mounting points are on straps. I used the glass hatchback adapters that are included so I can still open the lift gate without removing the rack. But I cannot lift the glass with it on. However, I rarely use that feature anyway. I did not have to use the lower tabs to mount this rack. The 4 strap-mounted tabs (top and sides)coupled with the lower feet nestling up against the license plate lip was plenty stable! All in all, pretty slick. I have had 2 bikes on it around town and plan a highway road trip with two bikes later this month. I will share my findings upon my return. Can't give it 5 stars as the rear wiper cannot be used with this installed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not very good for a 2007 Subaru STI, June 17, 2010

The bike rack itself does as it's advertised. I have a 2010 Specialized Pitch without a top tube. You can buy an "artificial top tube" that allows the bike to fit on the rack nicely. You should see the product under the usually bought with this item category. If I had a car it fit on better, I would give it five stars.

To all buyers: If your trunk has a normal curve to it, imagine the trunk of a 1995 Ford Taurus, you can use it. If your trunk has a sharp angle with a spoiler, or other body work that makes the trunk angle sharper, if you will, or...not like a 1995 Ford Taurus... then you may have problems.

It doesn't work with 2007 STI sedans well at all. The curve in it doesn't fit well over the top, back portion of the trunk right under the spoiler. Because of this you have to put it very low on the car. That doesn't allow the trunk to close very well with the hooks under it. The hooks also dig into the bumper and leave marks. Also, the angle you have to have the bike rack at so it fits on the car makes it so you can't use the first slot for bikes. The bikes will also swing and hit the car, leaving more scratches. The handlebar will most likely hit the spoiler of an STI as well. I would shop for a different rack if you have a trunk described above.

4.0 out of 5 stars Snug fit easy to use but won't stay tight!, November 16, 2009

This is a wonderful product it goes on my car so easily even with the akward fin at the top of my hatchback door. The straps make attaching the bike so simple and quick to use. However If your going on a long drive or you plan on leaving the rack on your car the straps which attach the rack to the car itself do not stay tight and need to be adjusted at the end of each trip or on a daily basis.

5.0 out of 5 stars The solution for me!, September 7, 2010

I have a convertible with a spoiler, which severely limits the bike racks available to me. Once I figured out how to mount this rack and adjust it completely, I fell in love with it. It is easy to remove, and just as easy to put back on. I found it great at high speed (75 mph, the speed limit out here - well maybe a bit more) with two full suspension mountain bikes mounted on the drive from Salt Lake City to Moab. Once I mastered the adjustments, I was able to comfortably clear the spoiler without damaging the trunk. I wish, though, that the instructions were better; there were lots of pictures, but I was still left to my own devices to really master the telescoping part of this rack.

5.0 out of 5 stars First rack that does it all!, May 25, 2009

2003 VW Jetta

This rack fit all the requirements that I wanted and then some. I am extremely picky and had searched and searched for a rack that not only looked good but was easy to use and performed well. I had tried the Saris Bones 3 that many people seemed to like but ended up taking it back. It was clunky to use in my opinion and just not that great of a rack. The Yakima Quickback looks great, super easy to install, and functions perfectly. It also has something I had not been able to find in previous racks....a cable that locks the rack to your trunk. Finally! And strangely enough also comes with bottle openers at the end of each arm. :) Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yakima QuickBack 3-Bike Mount, September 8, 2011

Great product for the hatch-back vehicle. The only one with such features in my opinion. NOTE to Ford Fiesta users: You do not need to change the top mounting straps. They work just fine as they come in the kit. I do suggest removal of rear wiper to avoid damaging it should it be set off when the rack is on the car. It's easy to mount and easy to take off. Vendor Catchegue was hurt by the poor performance of the postal service in getting it to me on a timely basis, but the vendor did all he could and follow-up communications with him were excellent.

Well made. However, Yakima did a recall on this product. Yakima let me know right away when I registered it and made returning it easy! So the item was returned and I opted for the roof rack instead. Great customer service. I love my yakima rack system!!!
