The bike rack for a car is very well designed, sturdy and easy to assemble. Within ten minutes after opening the box, I had it mounted on the car with two bikes. After removing the bikes, it takes less then one minute to remove the rack from the car and fits easily into the trunk. It only takes about one minute to remount the rack back onto the car.
One word of caution; the bike rack cannot fit on many cars, quite a long list in the direction's supplement. Before buying, I would suggest you get this list from the manufacturer--call. It could save you a lot of trouble.

Having a different make of rack in the past that was difficult to assemble and mount, I was apprehensive about getting a universal type mount this time, but the Super Joe II was everything thing that I hoped it would be. It was practically pre-assembled when I got it and the directions were very clear with plenty of diagrams showing how to install it. The only drawback that I see is that the rack itself has no theft deterent. Anyone can simply loosen the straps and remove it from your trunk lid; not good if you live in a high theft area. Luckily I don't.

This rack is solid and mounts on my Civic sedan easily. If I wanted to, I could mount the rack without opening the trunk. As far as trunk racks go, it's as good as any which means it has some inherent problems: Straps need to be tightened and loosened to put the rack on an tak it off; Bikes are packed together so pedals engage spokes; universal bike mounts are acceptable, but not a perfect fit. When a bike rack manufacturer fixes any of those problems they'll get 5 stars. I use this rack to haul 2 mountain bikes about 10 miles on a weekly basis. I am totally satisfied with my purchase.

I'll make it quick and simple: This is about as good as it gets for two bikes. It holds them steady, is quick to get on and off, and most of all, has NOT scratched or chipped the paint on my car. The only thing keeping it from a 5 star rating, is that the directions did not leave me feeling one hundred percent confident the first few times I installed it. The very first time was particularly trying. Something that is going to carry two expensive things strapped to another very expensive thing, should have directions that make proper installation close to foolproof. It wasn't too bad, but I didn't feel comfortable it was perfect the first few times, and that made me nervous. After a couple of short test drives with the bikes attached, I made some adjustments. Once I had some practice, it was a snap. Quick and easy to install, fits over my spoiler nicely and works great even on rough roads. Just what I needed and at the right price!

I purchased this rack last week in preparation for a 3200 mile trip. Installation took about 18 minutes and was fairly easy to do. I placed my two bicycles on which together they weigh approximately 65lbs. During the drive there was minimal bouncing - that really only occurred when there was 25+ MPH winds.. while behind semi trucks. The entire drive we averaged about 75mph going as fast as 90mph regularly - and a couple bouts of "lets see how fast this car can go". :)

Overall it was amazing.. I would imagine previous reviewers problems with sway is that they didn't pull the straps tight enough - you have to pull the straps toward the buckle and then away. Only one time through the trip did we stop for gas and ended up retightening the straps - on all fairness that was after a two lane highway where we were behind several semis and a pretty rough road. We drove through snow, rain and blazing AZ sun and it managed perfectly. Great product!

QUICK and easy to remove by releasing the two top straps. Once the straps are adjusted to your car it is easy and QUICK to place back on your car. Need to only adjust the two top straps. Would have liked it to fold up, but then again I would have adjust the arms each time. Find it a little awkward(positioning self)to pull straps to tighten.

A little hard to pull the red buttons out to adjust arms, but once it is done you never have to do it again unless you change vehicles.

I bought this particular auto bike rack because other models' instructions led me to believe those racks wouldn't fit my car. I own a 2004 Infiniti G35x sports sedan. This rack fits very well. Once the straps were adjusted for length the first time, re-installation after removal becomes very easy. Takes about 2-3 minutes to put back on. The trunk of my car is short externally and this bike rack easily fits inside the trunk when removed. It hold two bicycles. I've never used it to transport two, I only use it for my road bike (one bike at a time). The bike is well secured by the rack and I drive with confidence that the bike is safe and secure. I've wondered if two bikes would fit well because I put my single bike on the outside arms of the rack; the inside arms are a little (too?) close to the trunck, and I wonder if there is room for the pedals of the bike if I used the inside arms (but this is just conjecture, b/c like I said, I never tried the inside arms). This rack is nice because it has three contact point with the bike (not just two) where the rubber straps wrap around the bike tightly. Also, it has six points of contact (three on each side) with the car via the 'cloth' adjustable straps (some cheaper racks have on 2 on each side). Product was delivered promptly in good condition. I recommend this to folks. One thing, the instructions were not crystal clear - it might take a little thinking to figure out how to install it the very first time, but once it is set up subsequent installations are a snap.

Just got this rack last week and have used it a couple of times. I love it for the most part except it doesn't fit our two bikes together. We have one city bike and one cruiser style bike. The problem is there is not enough room for both bikes because, admittedly, the beach cruiser frame is larger than the city bike's frame. I wish I had gotten the Super Joe 3 to have more wriggle room, however the Super Joe 3 is not eligible for Amazon Prime and would have cost a lot more after shipping charges.

The overall quality is superb and worth the cost. I looked at this exact rack at Sports Authority and it was $120 (plus tax) so this item is a steal here. I recommend it but if you have larger framed bikes and want them on the rack at the same time it may be tricky. I eventually got them both on at the same time but it's a bit jerry-rigged.

UPDATE 3/8/11:
Now that we have had the rack for a month or so and have used it several times I can say that I would FULLY RECOMMEND this rack. (I added a star to make it a 5-star review.) We moved from Florida to DC last week and carried both bikes on this rack attached to my late model Accord and had ZERO issues. The bikes fit snuggly but securely and, if properly tightened, the rack stays put.

This rated for for 60 pounds but with two 25 pound mountain bikes this was very unstable. In fact two of the straps came loose and bike swung wide while driving down the highway. Was very lucky to have not lost my bike. Worked great with one bike but that makes buying this 2 bike version rather pointless. Might work ok for two road bikes that are much lighter but for mountain bikes I had to return this.

I wish that the description (not just the fine print on the installation instructions) had indicated that if you have any kind of bike other than a men's frame (with the horizontal bar across the top from the handle bars to the seat), then you need an additional $40 part to "adapt" this unit to fit your bike. I have a women's hybrid bike, with a "step-through" frame, so this unit doesn't work without that extra part, which, by the way, gets terrible reviews for being flimsy (Tube Top Part # 8002531), but at least it is available through Amazon (and it's Prime). Had I known all of this before buying this rack, I would have chosen something else. By itself, the rack is well-made, sturdy, and easy to install on my 2012 Accord Sedan, so lucky you if you have a men's bike.
