Makes two large cups of great coffee quickly. Filters last for months, if not years. Seems easier to clean than my french press if I remember to use vinegar to rinse the hard water scale away. With fresh espresso ground 8 O Clock I have yet to get a bitter pot of coffee.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the best way to brew good coffee, September 24, 2009
This review is from: Yama Stovetop 5 Cup Vac-Pot - Vacuum Pot Siphon Coffee Brewer
I heard good things online about vacuum brewing, but was disappointed with this unit. Here's why. First, the water seems to get too hot for making good coffee. I tried different beans and different brew times, but always ended up with a bitter tasting cup. Second, the handle on this unit is made of cheap plastic that is not heat resistant. If you have a gas stove, there is no way around melting the bottom of the handle. Coffee from my Braun drip machine tastes better and comes out faster without all the cleaning. French press is better still, but the fines must be filtered out and there is more cleaning involved. I'm still searching for the ideal method.

this is a grate product for some one who likes Coffee. i didn't use the amount of Coffee it says to use. i only used about 2 1/2 scoop instead of the 5 it says to use.
i gave it 4 stares because the pot is a bit hard to clean.
