Gone are the days when you needed a basement or an old garage to become a rock star. The Yamaha DD9M touch-sensitive digital drums enable you to practice or play anywhere (perhaps to the dismay of parents or neighbors). It includes four touch-sensitive drum pads, four effects pads, 54 assignable PCM voices, and three types of autoroll.

The Yamaha DD9M helps you master any percussion style at the tempo you choose. The LED display is easy to read. A set of drumsticks is included. The machine may be powered by either six AA batteries or by the Yamaha PA3B AC adapter (not included). This unit comes with a one-year manufacturer's warranty.

I expected these drums to be relatively big and boisterous. They're not. They are about 15" across, and the drum pads have a diameter of about 4.5" inches. The pads are also made of rubber, which results in a mark everytime you hit them with the drumsticks that are included in the drumset. However, they have a wide variety of sounds, beats, and rhythms. If you are looking to play them as a hobby, they're wonderful; if you want to use them as an alternative to a drumset, find something bigger.

This is a really fun toy. When I use earphones it has great sound. I like how it sounds louder when the drum pads are hit harder. It also has a very large number of programmable sounds. The only problem is that the drum pads are too small. It is definetly worth it's price but is no substitute for a real drum set.

My son who is a drummer found this very easy to use with the built in demo songs and different beats. I loved it because he could plug in headphone and we don't have to hear it.
