Excellent instrument, but probably no need to upgrade,

Tried this instrument out in the store and could not figure out what the difference was between this one and the 520 I previously reviewed on amazon. Sound qualities, voices, layout, display, and software all seemed identical to me to the 520. Finally, after a direct inquiry to Yamaha, I was told that the only difference between this model and the 520 was that the 530 contained 10 more rhythm sequences. So, if you're one of those who would use this instrument heavily for recording and composition, and just could never find the right rhythmic background, you can try this one and see if one of their ten extra sequences works for you. If you're like me, however, who use the keyboard mostly for performance purposes and only occasional composition and recording, it really isn't worth upgrading. If you're diligent enough and have the software (pretty much any layered music recording sequence will do; I happen to use Cakewalk 4), you can make and save your own rhythms anyway on either keyboard. For a more detailed review of other features this keyboard has, check my review out on the DGX-520...aside from the extra rhythms, it's exactly the same.

This is a great board to play on. It's full sized (all 88 keys), comes with everthing need, stand, book rest, A/C adapter, and even comes with a sustain pedal, which a lot of other boards don't and you have to buy the sustain separate. The sound quality is great and can be very loud when turned up :).I read a review on here that said something about the keys 'clicking' when they were struck. I haven't had this problem, the keys strike nicely and smoothly. I think this is a great product for anyone who wants a nice keyboard without spending wads of money.

About 7 years ago I walked into a Sam's Club and saw a Yamaha keyboard that looked exactly like this. I was amazed at how nicely it sounded but I had a piano at home and at $999.95 I didn't really need it. Now I'm in Louisiana and my piano is at my parents house in PA.I was hard pressed between getting the DGX230 or the DGX530 and after spending a week mulling it over I logged on planning to purchase the 230. But when I got online I saw that the price of the 530 had dropped considerably and before I knew it I clicked on the ADD TO CART button and then sealed the deal. I was a slightly leery about the few customer reviews stating that the keys clicked but here I am almost 3 months later with no clicking noise at all. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. They keys have a great feel to them and the sound is amazing. I know my piano will find its way back to me but in the mean time this is a perfectly acceptable work around for me. Now I'll admit that I'm far from a professional player but after 10 years of not playing I find myself in front of this keyboard for at least an hour a day if not longer. Someone said that this keyboard was larger than they expected but I find it to be VERY compact for a full size keyboard. As I said, my keys don't click at all and have a great feel about them. In my opinion if you are considering purchasing this don't waste your time considering it any longer. Don't waste any time like I did-- even at its list price this keyboard is an amazing value. I have to say that this is one of the best purchases I've made.

the weighted keys give a nice approximation to a real piano, but they make more noise than they should. The sound from the built in speaker is quite nice. I particularly enjoyed the ability to record yourself and then play it back and play along. The included stand is sufficiently sturdy, but I would have liked more than one foot pedal. NOTE: if you turn it on while stepping on the footpedal, the piano will act like the pedal is ALWAYS depressed (just power cycle to fix).

Weighted Keys?,

This keyboard looks great and has numerous options. I had to return the keyboard because the touch felt exactly like keyboard keys. I felt a little deceived by the title "lightly weighted" because the keys did not feel weighted at all.

can anyone tell me how to make the harmony work?,

This review is from: Yamaha DGX-530 Keyboard, 88 Full-Sized Lightly Weighted Piano Style Keys (Electronics)
This keyboard has fantastic sound quality, is easy to play, and fun to play around with. However, I've been playing for 40 years and I can add my own jazz. The reason my friends bought it is that it is SUPPOSED to add harmonies if you are a hunt-n-peck pianist. I worked with them through the instruction book for three days and gave up. Nothing we could do made the harmonies work, even after carefully writing down every step. We got it to happen twice, but not by doing the same things two times in a row.Other than not being beginner-friendly, my biggest gripe about this one is small - the buttons that select different functions don't light up, and the same buttons work more than one option, so you never know what exactly you've pushed. Did I just turn that on or off? Did I hit the button squarely and get the function I want? Do I have to turn the whole thing on to reset everything? If you have any idea whatsoever about making the harmony work, please let us know!

The Yamaha DGX530 88 has opened up a whole new world of musical creativity for our son. The recording possibility and playback while playing another part has been great. The sound is wonderful. It has delivered on all that we wanted from it and then some.

I've been looking for keyboard and I have found this piano is a wonderful piece. As a beginner I'm 100% happy with it. I love how it sounds and the light weighted keys. I've heard this keyboard will make a click sound whenever you play but so far I havent got any problem with that. I'm totally love my piano and the shipping was super fast. My piano arrived like only 2 or 3 days after I purchased.

Arrived promptly and was easy to set up. Great sound and volume. Has way too many features for the novice player but it's nice to have them in the event you want to do more, the grandkids picked up on the options quicker than I did. Great price for a very nice electronic piano, I would recommend it.

I'm very pleased with this purchase. It actually is more than I expected. For the price it really deliveres good sound and it has many features that make it worth it, I'm just starting to play so I'm sure I haven't even discovered all that it has to offer. The only thing negative I have to say it is that even though the policies from amazon state that items of more than $400 would not mbe delivered without signature, my piano was left at my door, fortunatly we live in a very safe neigborhood so the piano was intact when I found it.
