excellent inexpensive instrument,

I now own two these. One I leave at my band's practice site, the other I keep at home and then take with me for performances. At $200 there's no sense hauling the practice instrument back and forth. Of course, it's not a professional keyboard and will rate sneers from real keyboardists. But for my purposes providing chording and some embellishments for a couple of local bands, it works just fine . . . especially great sound for the "rock organ" setting . . . and I also use the violin voice for country songs and the various saxophone voices on occasion. I have no idea about the other features of the keyboard as a learning device . . . but for an inexpensive, good-sounding, sturdy and dependable keyboard, it's great.

No AC adapter included, and what is the difference between this and the YPG235?,

I have no problem with the keyboard itself. I have a big problem with the product marketing and out of box experience. What is the difference between this model and the YPG-235? I spent 60 minutes on the internet including Yamaha's terrible website and still have no idea. It feels like the YPG DBX line are about the same, and the have THE EXACT SAME MANUAL. Is one or the other the newer model? Are they both still supported? This one costs a little more, what am I getting for the money? This model comes without an AC adapter. WTF? Is there really someone out there that wants to run this solely off battery power? I unboxed this with my son and we had to just stand there and look at it for 2 days while I waited for an adapter in the mail (not to mention paying an extra $20 for a $1 item). Here's a hint Yamaha, Apple would never ship a product that didn't work out of the box. WWSJD? Include an AC adapter. Lastly - I also bought the stand separately. Apart from having no assembly directions it doesn't at all hook in to this keyboard. The keyboard just sits on two tube pipes. Would it be too hard to design an integrated stand? This just feels cheap.

Too expensive paying separately for options,

Save yourself $40 or more and buy the whole package from Costco for $180. It's silly that Amazon makes you pay separately for the power supply, headphones, stand, etc.

I wish I could say that I purchased my DGX 230 from Amazon.com; however, I can not. But I can say for the money this is a fantastic instrument. Unfortunately, the keyboard by itself does not include the power adapter--as noted by other reviews. Still, no big deal. Solution: buy the package and you will not go wrong. I received the DGX 230, a Yamaha PKBX2 keyboard stand, the power adapter, and Nady HP-03 stereo headphones. The stand is very easy to assemble with the supplied allen wrench, is very sturdy, and has multiple height adjustments that can be made without hassel and within seconds. All good points lead to the fact that this is an extremely nice piece of equipment to compliment your existing instrument(s) or for the beginner and advanced player alike. You will not regret the price. I paid more for mine than what you can get it for at Amazon.com yet, it does not matter because it is well worth the price. And, the owner's manual is easy to read and understand. Have fun and enjoy.

We setup my daughter's new Yamaha keyboard, and the inlaws joined in making music. Playing with various sounds, I heard my nephew playing guitar while she played honky tonk piano. Next she was using classical grand piano mode, and they were rockin' out.Lots of fun, worked right out of the box, the speakers are big and sound good. We're having fun with this cool keyboard. Lots of complex options, plus the USB connection to a computer we need to learn. But it's great right out of the box. Get the stand and footpedal, and of course a power supply. Yea, it's more money, but to get Yamaha quality that's the price you pay. Still a good value at these prices...

This is a great keyboard for the price. I like the design but the functions are good also. The only thing inconvenient, is that there is no AC power adapter included.

Totally agree with the other reviewer. Very nice keyboard, looks very professional. Definetly not toy looking. Happy with the purchase.

Made this purchase for my daughter on my cell phone. Did not realize that this product did not come with a chord (how rediculous?) or a stand! Purchase arrived in very timely manner. On the box is a very large lime green sticker which states"Bonus - Stand and chord included" . My daughter opens the box, only to find no chord or stand. Are you kidding me??? How is it that the two products were suppose to be in the box and now they are not? I have no way to contact seller as it is listed as Amazon. Extemely disappointed in this purchase! I had to then go ahead and purchase a chord and stand separately and pay an additional $40! Makes me sick that people are not honest!

Bought this for my 8 year old. She loved it out of the box while it sat on the floor waiting for a stand. This is a nice starting instrument for someone who has slight, light, and delicate fingers. Features are beyond my ken, too many really. For the price, it must be built in China. Good deal.

Great instrument and best deal anywhere for the price. Bare-bone purchase without accessories (AC adapter, headphone and stand), which I already have. I am happy to have saved about $100 for not getting items that I don't need anyway. Best of all, it helps me enjoy music a lot more than before. Highly recommended.
