From the Manufacturer

The Yamaha Powered Speaker Family

From the world's #1 provider of musical instruments, comes the ultimate sound reinforcement solution.

DXR Series Loudspeakers

Ever since we first started developing professional audio equipment in the 1960s, we've made it our goal to stay at the forefront of the technology curve. Drawing on decades of experience as a true industry innovator, we don't merely utilize cutting-edge technologies — we create them.

FEATURES

High-Efficiency 1100W Class-D Amplifiers

All DXR Series loudspeakers are equipped with highly efficient Class-D amplifiers that were optimally designed to match the DXR's HF and LF transducers. These high-performance amplifiers deliver the highest sound output in their class with 1100W of power, producing an impressive SPL up to 133dB. They also provide very fast attack and superior transient response, which greatly contribute to these speakers' incredible audio performance.

Intelligent Dynamic Control for Consistent Clarity at Any Output Level

D-CONTOUR is an intelligent multi-band compressor that gives you powerful and consistent sound throughout all output levels. By constantly monitoring the output of multiple frequency bands and calculating the optimum EQ adjustments for each, even the maximum sound output maintains outstanding clarity and musicality.

Extensive DSP Protection Functions for Maximum Output

DXR speakers employ many of the same protection functions used in our top-class TXn Series professional power amplifiers. A microprocessor and high-power DSP monitor the status of the power supply, power amplifiers, transducers and ongoing signals to protect all aspects of each component. As a result, these speakers can perform to their full potential while ensuring reliable operation in even the most severe conditions.

Intelligent Onboard 3-Channel Mixer

The DXR Series features a flexible onboard mixer with a variety of input, making it ideal for simple vocal/ instrument amplification. With its flexible IN/OUT, the DXR Series can comprise a full sound reinforcement system, or seamlessly integrate into a setup utilizing DSR or DXS Series speakers.

Durable, Compact ABS Enclosures

Full-range models are moulded in rugged, non-resonant ABS enclosures and are designed to dampen down vibrations caused by high output levels, producing less distortion and superior sonic quality. The road-tested enclosures are equipped with heavy-duty steel grilles and ergonomic, gripped aluminum handles that greatly improve durability and portability.

Dual-Angle Pole Mount Socket

Depending on the venue, sometimes your mix can fall prey to low ceilings or other room attributes that can impede a clear, even mix and detract from the audiences' listening experience significantly. The DXR's pole mount socket offers two positions—0° and 7°—to direct the acoustic energy away from reflective surfaces and on to your audience where it belongs.

Symmetrical Enclosure Design for Mirror-Mode Floor Monitoring

The DXR12 and DXR15's enclosure design enables mirror-mode monitor placement that creates a symmetrical sound field for the performer with a larger, more defined “sweet spot”. Used in either a balanced dual-mono configuration or a stereo monitor mix setup, mirror-mode floor monitoring can enhance your performance considerably.

Rigging Points for Standard Eye-Bolts and Optional U-Brackets

DXR Series loudspeakers come equipped with rigging points, allowing for rigged application with standard eyebolts*. When more versatility is required, optional U-brackets allow simple and easy rigging in both horizontal and vertical configurations. *Eyebolts not included

While I did not buy my Yamaha DXR10 from Amazon, I felt compelled to submit a review of this speaker.
I traded in a PAIR of JBL EON 510s for ONE Yamaha DXR10 and was happy to do so after hearing one in action playing material I am intimately familiar with - audio tracks I created. The first thing that struck me was the midrange. It was astonishingly clear and very "open" sounding, unlike the decidedly "pinched" sound of the JBLs. Especially with the "boost" setting engaged. Yamaha's "FOH" setting doesn't seem to overly drop the mids. It sounds like it just extends the lows and accentuates the highs a teeny bit and gives the sound a bit more girth and sheen. They never sound overhyped the way some speakers do. Those who like a lot of low end will want to use a subwoofer with these but to me, these are the most even sounding PA speakers I've ever used and I would only ever need a sub if I were using it outdoors or in a very large room for a very loud party.
One minor gripe, I wish it had a side handle to make it easier to grip when pole mounting.
Still, I'm saving my pennies for the second one.

Well I guess the main the competition is the QSC k10 I think this is has a better sound, better build quality its very solid and more inputs on back and a single output to send stereo to two speakers with one cable, but for me it's the warmer sound & I like that it's $200 cheaper than the qsc k10 !

I typically don't write reviews. As always shipping and quality is great with Amazon. These speakers are absolutely incredible. I used them in a mobile DJ setting, paired with an EV ZXa sub it's all I'll ever need and reproduces music accurately across all genres.

A great smaller powered speaker. Smaller is a relative term here as these things run large. It has enough inputs for good versatility. Similar quality to QSC, IMHO.

I have an interactive entertainment company that does a lot of outdoor sound and dj work. These little guys are can handle about 80% of what I do. I would never use them as a stand alone setup for dj stuff but set up with some QSC K12s and a couple of KW181s and you're set for just about anything. I love the plug-in options and the direct tilt. Pay for what you get. They are cheaper than the QSC and even I have a hard time telling the difference.

Excellent speakers! I haven't had a chance to try these at full volume yet, but they are exceptionally clear and crisp at the (loud) medium levels. It's great to have a built-in 3 channel mixer (1x XLR/Microphone, 1x 1/4 TRS, and 1x RCA [stereo pair]) for cases where simple setup is needed.

These speakers don't sound too different from the DXR8, but I was sold because these offer a beveled edge which allows them to be used as stage monitors (the DXR8 doesn't have this). The official Yamaha bags for these do not have shoulder straps (whereas the DXR8 bag does), so that's something to consider if you want the "whole package."

Bass response is definitely good for speakers of this size, but most of the low-end bass that you "feel" is lacking. I purchased a Yamaha DXS12 subwoofer to pair with these speakers and increase the amount of low frequency my system can put out.

These speakers have a nice weight to them (not too light, not too heavy) and include dual pole mount receptacles to allow either straight or slightly down-angled sound projection. The built-in processing and high pass filter(s) eliminate the need for an external crossover.

I wish these speakers came with Powercon connectors instead of the standard IECs. Even though the supplied IEC power cables are of good quality, I'm debating purchasing locking IECs just to ensure that the plugs don't fall out of the speakers while in use. Due to the beveling on the back of the speakers (and close to the IEC power input jack), it's not really possible to use a right-angle IEC plug.

Excellent speakers, highly recommended!

I bought a set of these when they came out. Man they are so full dont breakup at all unless you crank them to 10 which is a lot of volume to push through them.
They are so clear I was unsure they would do as saleman promised, but they did it all. I run acouctic guitar and drum tracks through midi drum machine through a new 6 channel Yamaha mixer and they make everything including me so balanced tight full through all frequencies, will fill a med sized resturaunt without being bleary like cheaper lower cost speakers. Not to heavy 25 lbs each for having 700 watts of power which I never had to come close to using with so much comfortable head room.
I have used them for fronts in school auditorium for plays and they carry far clear and long throughout all seats. Well worth the exspense to own them.

Update; I RECENTLY bought 2 DXR 12 TO FIT THEM IN A VERY LARGE SCHOOL AUDITORIUM FOR MULTI FUNCTIONS. I HAVE MY OWN DXR10 WHICH I CANT PRAISE ENOUGH.
IN THIS SCHOOL WITHOUT THESE SPEAKERS FULLY MAXED OUT IT FILLED THE ENTIRE HUGH SPACE WITH A NICE COMPRESSED MID RANGE AND SOLID BASS THROUGH ALL FREQUENCIES.THE PEOPLE AT THE SCHOOL WHEN I GAVE THEM DEMONSTRATION OF WHAT THEY JUST BOUGHT WERE AMAZED HOW SUCH A SMALL LIGHT WEIGH SPEAKER CAN PROVIDE THIS MUCH QUAILY SOUND WITH NO TINNY BREAKING UP EITHER. THESE 2 SPEAKERS REPLACED A COMPLETE RACK OF POWER AMPS FROM THE 80S WHEN SCHOOL WAS BUILT THAT HAD NOTHING LEFT IN THEM AND 3 HUGH SPEAKER CABINETS HANGING DOWN FROM CEILING. I LAUGHED AT THE FACT ALL THOSE POWER AMPS PUT OUT THE SAME POWER AS THE YAMAHAS HAVE BUILT INTO THIS COMPACT SPEAKER THINGS HAVE COME A LONG WAY IN 30 YEARS. ANYWAY THATS HOW BIG A SOUND YOU ARE BUYING AND YOU GET EVERY DOLLARS WORTH FOR THEM.
