Verified Purchase
I recently bought a small travel trailer and wanted a generator for dry camping. I looked at the competition and finally decided on the Yamaha. I picked up the trailer before the generator arrived. I bought a few small items at the dealer and looked at the generators they had in stock. I guess the salesman thought I was in the market so he started up a conversation. I told him I ordered a Yamaha EF 3000iSEB. We started talking about watts and what I would be able to power with it. He told me 2800 watts wouldn't run the 13000 btu ac. I told him it also has a battery for an added boost. He'd never heard of it and still said it wouldn't be enough to start the air conditioner. Long story short he didn't know what he was talking about. It started and ran the A/C no problem.
Overall it is a great little generator. I couldn't load it onto my truck without a friends help so I may try to find some type of ramp to use.

I purchased my ISEB 3000 in October 2012 for my camper trailer and for a small backup generator for the house. I purchased the genuine Yamaha Remote Start Kit for $350.00 and had the dealer install at the time of purchase. I run it with a small load 1-2 times per month for 20 mins. By April 2013 , the battery was dead, which was weird, because I always remove the key when it is stored. So I took it back to the dealer, and they told me the remote starting unit was bad, but it is only warrantied for 90 days.

After contacting Yamaha to verify this, they told me I am responsible for any aftermarket add on's. I reminded the rep and her manager it is a Yamaha part - it should be warrantied for at least 1 year, and they refused to work with me. So I purchased a NEW remote start and the dealer installed again. Cost me $580.00 for the new start unit/ diagnostic and repair/install. I am now reporting that my batter is dead AGAIN - today is July 12th, 2013. I have an hour meter installed on the unit and it has 7.5 hours on it. The dealer is telling me it's outside the 90 day warranty period, Yamaha is saying the same thing. WOW, awesome customer service. And I argued that it was probably never the remote start, I suspect the starter solenoid is drawing volts from the batter or the actual generator is not charging the battery when it is running. Anyway, back to the story, my conversation with Yamaha customer service today, explained I purchased this generator for the supposed reliability of Yamaha, and purchased genuine Yamaha parts, and all I have is a P.O.S. that has approx. $3200.00 into it and it is less reliable than a "big box store generator" that is a fraction of the price, not to mention had I known Yamaha only warranties their "add on" products for 90 days. They are no help.

This is one sweet generator. Mine is almost 4 years old and has been flawless. Used about 25 weekends a year, including continuously for air conditioning during summer months. Routine simple maintenance and oil changes only. No problem starting and running a 1600 btu air conditioner on a houseboat. Very quiet and smooth. The engine speed increases with demand, but at low output is almost at an idle. Just now need to replace the 12v start and boost battery. Found a replacement online for $50 with shipping. Only negative is a very small oil capacity and need for frequent - every 25hrs - oil changes. No problems operating in weather extremes.. Starts immediately with key or one easy pull (usually) on the starter rope. 5 stars for quality, value and performance. Well worth every penny. Bravo Yamaha,
