Listen to music with the EPH-100...And discover greater detail and clarity than ever before.

The EPH-100 Inner Ear Headphones are the result of Yamaha’s desire to enable you to hear not only clear music, but the sounds of the performer’s breathing or the bassist’s plucking of the strings, and even the emotions the artist put into the music. These new-concept headphones use a 6mm (1/4”) diameter super-compact driver to deliver the sound to your ears in pure form. Superb tuning only possible from Yamaha with its long musical instrument and audio experience reproduces every minute detail. With the EPH-100, you’ll fall in love with your favorite music all over again.

Super-compact 6mm (1/4") Driver Reproduces Pure Sound

The EPH-100 features a 6mm (1/4”) diameter super-compact driver that can be inserted straighter and closer to the eardrum than ordinary earphones. This allows you to hear pure, low-distortion sound without unwanted sound reflections. You enjoy natural, accurate reproduction with all sound sources.

Two-Stage Flange for Powerful Sound and Superior Comfort

The earpad has a two-part flange; the first part smoothly guides the driver into the ear, and the second fixes the earpad firmly in your ear. Tightly sealed for minimal sound leakage, it lets you enjoy powerful bass sound. The snug fit ensures optimal comfort.

Aluminium Body Reproduces Clear Sound with Sharp Definition.

The body is made of high quality aluminium, exceptionally light and hard, it provides a good feel while helping to minimise sound loss. Air outlet holes in the driver unit and exterior adjust sound quality and provide optimum sound emission with sharp definition.

Precision-shaped Aluminium Conveys Luxury and Quality of Yamaha

The body is formed of precision-shaped aluminium with a finish that is resistant to scratching and corrosion. The design, texture and detailed workmanship convey the sense of luxury of a high quality product.

Punchy bass and super-clear treble with all the mid in between to satisfy all your music listening applications.

The different double-flange ear tips should fit most ears and provide a much better seal than a standard IEM.

On January 17th of 2012, I purchased these headphones at my local store in Hawaii for $130. I was looking for something high-quality and ultimately, not beats or skullcandy's. I had tried the eph-50's beforehand and decided that they were only so-so, so I went ahead and paid a little extra for the 100's. I was instantly amazed by the quality and sound of these headphones - easily the best pair I've ever used. I can't stress the capabilities of these buds enough.

Fast forward one year. On January 2nd, 2013, these headphones finally gave out. I plugged these into an airplane jack when traveling back from Florida to Hawaii, and the left audio channel gave out. I sent the headphones back along with my receipt to California, and about 1 month later I received a brand new pair! Their customer service was impeccable, and the new headphones work great.

5 stars. First review I've written for a product - but this deserves one. Thank you Yamaha!

Edit: it's been nearly 3 years of using these headphones. Worth every penny. Bought a Fiio e11 amp. Now I can't listen without it. Using an amp opens these buds into frequencies I hadn't heard before from my ipod's built-in amp or my computer's soundcard. As my music tastes have changed over the years, these headphones have shown me serious versatility. They keep up with every genre I listen to, and bass-heavy music is well complimented by my amp. It's an amazing listening experience every time I plug these buds into my head.
Edit2: another thing I'd like to stress is the noise isolation these headphones provide with the stock eartips. The picture on Amazon makes them look weird. They're actually the most comfortable eartips I've used, hands down. Plus they block sound extremely well. I can put them in without anything playing and turn down the noise of the world around me when I'm trying to study. Absolute perfection with a very, very low price point.

These little things have some big sounds coming out of them. From the lows to the highs everything is well represented in the EPH-100.

Talking about the low end its amazing how much bass this 6mm driver puts out, it has really good depth and texture with awesome punch and rumble for such a small driver. Its not to much bass but more than say my TF10's and FXT90 and it doesn't bleed into the midrange like on some lower end IEM's.

The mids are smooth and sit just right in the frequency range as there not recessed or to forward like say Shures are. It has good texture and detail with a nice warm feeling exactly what you want from a good dynamic driver. Vocals sound great and it brings out all the midrange melodies and sounds in my electronic music beautifully. So far I only have a few hours on them (like 10) so I think the mids will get even better after a good 50 hours of play time as will everything else.

Highs are, I hate to say this twice but very smooth also and never get harsh or to bright. They're there and have great detail but its just more mellow than my most of my other IEM's like the TF10, FXT90 and Ety HF5 though its still well defined. As I listening to them at the moment certain tracks bring them out more so than others but after they burn in it might get a little brighter but if they don't its still very good.

The soundstage is about average with decent width and depth but the instrument separation is superb and you can hear every little detail of a track. Where they really standout in the soundstage area is with their 3D presentation its got great side to side and makes my EDM sound amazing. It has a nice relaxing presentation and never gets harsh or in your face perfect for late night listening before you go to sleep.

I was looking for an affordable universal IEM for travel and everyday usage. I was looking for something more musical than analytic and after reviewing/demoing a few, this one really fit the bill. Additionally, check out the very positive reviews on Head-fi where knowledgeable audiophiles who listen to high-end stuff really appreciate the Yamaha's bang-for-the-buck as well.

My criteria were comfort, better noise isolation than my previous ones (Sony EX85s, B&O A8s) and sound similar to my full-size Beyerdynamic DT880s. Additionally, I prefer dynamic drivers (like a traditional speaker) over balanced armature drivers (the type used in some hearing aids and multi-driver IEMs).

The different double-flange ear tips should fit most ears and provide a much better seal than a standard IEM. Note: I have smallish ears (the UE TF10s are too big) but the medium and large tips fit great.

I burned them in for > 24 hours and then proceeded to listen to lossless progressive trance, female vocals, and Jpop/Kpop while sitting and while on a plane. The isolation definitely helped block out some of the airplane's droning, and allowed me to listen at a lower volume than I would use with my old IEMs. According to some on head-fi they improve after > 100 hours as well.

Compared to the Sennheiser IE8s, bass was just a touch lighter, but the mids were MUCH better as opposed to the darker/muddier IE8s (due to their large bass/midbass bump). Another IEM that I thought compared favorably was the Denon C710, but I wanted better isolation. highs were very good though not as crisp as the Denon's. I'd classify the overall sound as a touch warm and fun/musical overall.
