3.0 out of 5 stars Good guitar, but too big
This is a great guitar, and I have no qualms about its quality. My issue is that I'm a very small person (5'1") and the guitar is far too big for someone of my stature to hold comfortably on my lap. It takes a lot of effort for me to strum and my arm gets tired just resting on the body. I would recommend a smaller size for short people, especially beginners, because...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, May 6, 2007

Even though I am a beginner, my instructor told me that he is amazed at the sound of such an inexpensive guitar. I too wanted a guitar that wasn't cheaply made and the sound was important. Nobody wants to learn on a guitar that sounds bad.

I would certainly recommend this guitar to any beginner as well as advanced player. The price is right and it is a well built and great sounding instrument!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice!, October 10, 2007

Having not played guitar for twenty years, I wanted to get back to playing again for my own enjoyment. I didn't want to spend a lot for an easily fretted, nice sounding instrument and this guitar fills that bill. It has good looks to go along with its nice deep mellow sound and is easily fretted, my three requirements. A great guitar and a bargan for the money. I'm very pleased with this guitar. If I had it to do over, I'd get another one just like it.

I may not be that experienced with guitars, but I got a few acoustic, and this one was the most inexpensive by far and well worth the value. The sound is excellent, especially for the value. To get a guitar with just a little better sound, you can expect to pay many times what you paid for this one. I'm happy with my F310 guitar

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes the $$$ go a long way, August 6, 2008

The Yamaha F-310 Acoustic Guitar was my very first guitar, and I grew to love it. I played it for 6 years, and it never failed. Since then I have upgraded to a Gibson Songwriter Cutaway (which plays like a dream), and I gave away my trustworthy Yamaha to a lucky person. I sometimes wish I still had my old F-310. I beat it up pretty bad, but the tone and playability never diminished. Don't let the price fool you...this yamaha is everything you could want in a beginner/intermediate guitar. With the right set of fresh strings, this guitar sounds comparable to higher-end guitars in the upper hundreds. Buy this Yamaha, and it'll be one purchase you don't regret.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Buy!, February 28, 2008
This review is from: Yamaha F-310 Steel String Acoustic Folk Guitar, Semi Jumbo (Electronics)
I bought this guitar through Amazon as my first acoustic guitar acouple months ago and I haven't put it down since. I have a les paul but I almost always practice with this guitar. Sounds great and the fret board is almost identical in size to the les paul's. Stays in tune well but its very sensitive to temperature (but what instrument isn't). The only thing to watch out for is denting this guitar. It is not a tank, it will dent if you bang it into the corner of a desk or table. If you are a beginner looking for a first acoustic guitar BUY THIS GUITAR. If you want a guitar with a little more prestige you should be slapped, buy this guitar and figure out the basics. I was planning on buying a comparable guitar for 400 but I got this for $150!!! this guitar is worth it.

I purchased this guitar 6 years ago from a guitar store for about $300. I LOVE it. If I had to do it over I would buy the same one. It is great to learn on. The action (how high the strings are off the fretboard) is low which helps your fingers not have to work so hard and hurt less. My neighbor has a $1000 Martin acoustic and when we get together he always snags mine to play with for a while. He loves it. He has been playing for over 30 years and he cant get over how nice this guitar sounds. It does ding up pretty easily when you hit it on the coffee table but that just adds character right. Im not really worried about it because I never plan on getting rid of mine. I highly recommend this guitar for beginners and anyone who wants a great guitar for a great price.

4.0 out of 5 stars guitar beginner's review, April 25, 2008
This review is from: Yamaha F-310 Steel String Acoustic Folk Guitar, Semi Jumbo (Electronics)
I got this guitar after just 3 or 4 lessons, to practice on and stuff, and i was very pleased when i opened the box. The guitar has held up nicely, no scratches or dents even though i accidentally bang it against tables, etc. It sounds good to me, but i dont have much to compare it to...overall i am very happy with it

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleased With This as a Beginner Guitar, October 18, 2007
This review is from: Yamaha F-310 Steel String Acoustic Folk Guitar, Semi Jumbo (Electronics)
Being just a beginner, I wanted an instrument that sounded good, looked good and didn't break the bank. I was so pleased with this Yamaha. Sounds great, looks good. My only complaint is I'm not a huge fan of the strings that came on this instrument, but I'll probably play on them for a long time before replacing them (so they must not be too awful.) My sister liked this guitar so much she went out and bought for one herself :)
