Don't overlook this because it's a Yamaha, it's built really well, and has a beautiful, unique sound. I've been playing guitar for 3 1/2 years, and I was so excited to get this! It's very light, but built strongly.

It has three nylon and three steel strings, and a slightly wider neck. For me, it's easier to pick with and do bar chords. When I first got it, it took me a while to get it in tune, because the strings keep slipping out of tune. But I've had it for about a week now, and it's slipping out of tune less and less. So you will need to tune it quite a bit at first, but an electronic tuner makes that easy.

It's five half-steps higher than a guitar, and has a different tuning, but the chord shapes are the same and it sounds amazing.

It's a great price, but not built cheaply. I would recommend this for a beginner, or an expert. It's a fun instrument :)

Bought it for my 14 year old. He has a full size electric and acoustic, he loves the portability and sound of the Guitalele

The item I am reviewing today is the Yamaha Gl-1 Guitalele; a guitalele is a guitar ukulele or guitar and ukulele combined to form a semi-small acoustic instrument. A guitar is a sixed string instrument that has a flat-backed rounded body that narrows in the middle and a long fretted neck. A ukulele is a smaller version of a guitar but with four nylon strings instead of six, which became popularized in Hawaii. The Yamaha Gl-1 Guitalele is a great reliable instrument to invest in.
The major aspects I am going to be reviewing about the Yamaha Gl-1 Guitalele are the foundations, sound quality, string quality, mobility, and the worth. Foundation is important because customers don’t want a poorly constructed instrument. Customers want an instrument that sounds soothing to the ear, strings that will not break easily, and stays in tune most of the time. Mobility and worth play a major factor as well; customers want a hassle free experience and something worthwhile.
As I review the Yamaha Guitalele, the aspect that truly caught my attention about the guitalele was the maker, Yamaha, of this instrument. The reasoning behind why Yamaha caught my attention is because Yamaha creates many different kinds of products. Yamaha’s Products range from motor vehicles to sound equipment then to musical instruments, which is pretty odd for a company to create many different products. Many other brands normally specialize in just one field of product, unlike Yamaha. So I had some doubt about the quality of this product right from the get go; then I was soon proved to think otherwise.
Before I ordered this product, I wasn’t actually interested in getting an instrument at the time; until one day, I saw a ukulele guitar on a YouTube video that I watched.

I got this because I wanted a nylon string ukulele sized guitar. It's lots of fun to mess around with.
