I first looked at this bass guitar reading the review of Stewart Teaze of the Yamaha ERB070 Bass Guitar Package. When I purchased the bass guitar I was pleasantly surprised by its quality, sound and feel. I am happy I went for this Yamaha Gigmaker EB because for 70 odd dollars more, you get a better guitar and 13 more watts on the amp. The amp works great btw, quiet enough to practice but loud enough to play gigs if need be. I highly recommend this product if your a serious beginner/intermediate bass player.

Got this package for my birthday. After playing with it for nine months I can honestly say it was a great purchase. The bass holds its tune. There is some hum, but you are not paying for humbucker pick-ups either. The amp is great for a beginner practicing. The only thing I can say bad about this kit is that the cable failed. I picked up an inexpensive monster cable and am back in business.

For an entry level product, this thing great. Just don't forget to buy an educational DVD as the included DVD gives very little information.

I ordered the Gigmaker EB Electric Bass package for my son's birthday. Several weeks elapsed and my son's birthday had passed before the realized the item was never going to arrive. The vendor (The Instrument Store) had registered a tracking number with UPS, which gave me a false sense of security that the package was somehow on its way. It turned out that they did not have the Gigmaker Electric Bass Package. They could sell me the electric bass, but no amp to go with it. They said they registered the item with UPS and it was READY to ship, but that they did not actually have a Gigmaker Package (bass + amp combo)as pictured. They had long since charged my credit card, and they were prepared to send me the electric bass without the amp (at the price of the package, which had already been charged). I asked for a refund instead.

The people at the Instrument Store were very polite. They refunded the money to my credit card promptly, but my son's birthday came and went and I was empty handed.
That same day, I ordered the same electric bass (from AUSTIN BAZAAR INC)and an amp (from AMAZON.COM LLC). The bass (Yamaha RBX170) is an excellent entry-level bass. I rate the "item" (the nonexistent Gigmaker package) 1 star, but the RBX170 is 4 1/2 stars. Both the bass and the amp arrived 24 HOURS (!!) from the moment I ordered them. LESSON: 1)Don't by the Gigmaker EB unless the vendor confirms it really exists 2)Try to order items sold by Amazon whenever possible.

ok this kit is really great im now a pro but i still use this guitar.
the only problem is that its not like the picture!!!!!
you see its a yamaha amplifier nd 15 watt, also the guitar has only the humbucker pickups.
but thats not bad because beginners dont need more then that!!!!

very disappointed in order the had on amazon. the instrument store said that they would include the amp in the description, then email me that it was wrong and i would not get what i order, dont order from them with all there fails advertizement

I purchased this package and when I received it I was shocked to see it has some off-brand 15 watt amp. The up-front description and other review says that it has a better 20 watt amp. The photo amp is also not correct. The list of parts does say 15 amp - but you must search to see it. Beware of this site. Bad business practice of bait and switch - shame on you Amazon.
