I bought these Yamaha speakers and a pair of Phoenix Gold ATc6 6.5-inch. I put one set in my kitchen ceiling, the other set in my dining room. Both were powered from the same amplifier, and I used thermal insulation in the back of both sets. My wife and I are not audiophiles, but we both agreed the Yamaha's had a richer, more solid sound. Easily was worth the $20 price difference. I gave 4-stars, rather than 5 because the grills were tricky to attach using glue sticks; otherwise installation was a a breeze.

This product is excellent! I am using 4 of them for a surround sound and they sound great. I was very happy with the entire purchase process it was very easy, and the delivery time was very fast the product was delivered in 3 days. I would recommend this product to anyone trying to build your own surround sound and not trying to spend a lot of money. These speakers sound great, if you can build boxes in the ceiling to put the speakers in it really helps the sound quality and also increases the bass that these speakers can produce.

I bought these speakers to add to my 5.1 Klipsch home theater system and Onkyo TX-SR707B receiver. I placed them in a drop ceiling in my basement and installation was a breeze. My only issue if any are these speakers are a little on the heavy side, hopefully I don't think they will make the ceiling tile sag (2'X4'). Just to make sure I offset them about 5 inches from end of the tile so that the tile grid would assist with the weight displacement. Connecting the speaker wires to the speakers was super easy, and they produce an incredible sound. The price was right and yes I would recommend them to a friend. On another note, they were shipped out on 1/31/10 and I got them 2/2/10.....lightning fast delivery! I was so surprised that they arrived so soon, I thought my wife bought something without me knowing about it. Thanks Amazon for the great products and wicked fast delivery!!! A++++

I was finally able to install these speakers in my new addition and have to say they sound amazing. I put six speakers in a 20 x 26 room and these fill the entire space. I researched many different brands before settling on the Yamahas and I couldn't be happier. They have very clear sound and work great as surround speakers in my new family room. Maybe an extreme audiophile would be able to find some faults with these but I think they are a tremendous speaker for the price. Installation wasn't difficult and after the first one went extremely fast. I had the drywall workers cut the holes while they were hanging the new board but Yamaha includes a template so don't think install would be too difficult in existing room.
I think this are a great speaker for the price and highly recommend to anyone looking for surround speakers.

I purchased these speakers for the rears for my 5.1 surround. I could not be happier. They sound quite good, they do not put out much base which is how the receiver is set up. The base runs through the sub. I could not be happier with the way they sound. Highly recommended!

We have put these up in the hall of our College Radio Station for passers by to listen and may become listener to our station. They sound sensational.

Very easy to use and secure mounting system.

Wire attachement works better and securer with plugs rather than just pushing wire into connectors. Without the use of plugs, the connections nuts are hard to grip and tighten and still do not hold speaker wire very securly.

I purchased these for ceiling surround speakers, for a 5.1 system. It is paired with a new Sony receiver.

Installation was easy. I already had the wires ran to the ceiling (new construction), so all I had to do was make sure no obstruction existed around the cut (use a coat hanger bent to the width of the speaker from center out). I then used the provided template to cut the ceiling. There were zero problems. The template was perfect. The speakers use a clip to hold them in place, and they are just as easy to use as the template. The speaker can be wired with either banana plugs or twisted onto the terminal. All cake.

The sound is great. As I mentioned, I am using the speakers in a 5.1 system and they are more then sufficient.

Installed 4 of these in walls and ceiling for surround sound. Speakers arrived on time - They installed easily, and look great in the wall.

The sound is incredible. Woofers are large enough to handle a full bass sound ( Though you still want a devoted subwoofer ) and special effects pop from every angle of the room.
