Yamaha's NS-P610 makes installing home theater speakers a cinch. The ensemble includes everything you need: four satellites, a center-channel speaker, and a powerful subwoofer--all acoustically matched for seamless performance, and all finished in handsome piano-black cabinets. The NS-P610 comes with four identical satellites for left-right front and left-right rear placement. The piano-finish bass-reflex (ported) enclosures contain 3-inch woofers with durable rubber surrounds and 1-inch Ferro-fluid-cooled dome tweeters. The all-important, dialog-fixing center-channel speaker uses a matching two-way bass-reflex design with a pair of 3-inch woofers.

A powerful subwoofer is the key component for dramatic home theater sound. The NS-P610 includes a sub with an 8-inch spruce-cone driver and a built-in 70-watt amplifier using Advanced Yamaha Active Servo Technology (Advanced YST). With Advanced YST, the speaker and amplifier work together to cancel out impedance and give the speaker cone perfectly linear motion. The cabinet volume and port size are scaled to an exact ratio, which magnifies small-amplitude input signals without distortion. The sub also incorporates auto-sensing on/off, a two-position high-cut filter, a choice of line- and speaker-level inputs (meaning you can still use it if your receiver lacks a dedicated subwoofer output), and a volume control to perfectly match its output with the other speakers and the room. You can place the sub vertically or horizontally. The satellites, center channel, and subwoofer are all magnetically shielded, so they can be placed near a TV or even a computer monitor with no picture degradation.

Perfect for smaller spaces; living rooms that are not intended to be home theaters. These speakers have awesome sound for their size, and with the price who could complain? Keep in mind they are 6-ohm speakers, you need a fairly decent receiver to power them (one that has a 6-ohm setting). With a high-end Yamaha system they sound great! The Subwoofer has surprising power given it's size.

Speakers sound great - are well made and a great value - be advised though that there is a catch - the impediance is 6 ohms - most speaker systems are 8 (6 means you need more power to run them). I don't know if you can mix and match. Also for sure, your reciever needs to have a 6 ohm setting in order to run these. That is I am sure why they are so cheap!

The speakers sound great. We were looking for a small sound system for my in-laws and this did just the trick and at a great price as well. They absolutely love it.
