4.0 out of 5 stars Great set of speakers, August 19, 2008
This review is from: Yamaha NS-SP5800BL 5.1-Channel Home Theater Speaker Package (Electronics)
I bought these speakers over this last weekend and hooked them up to Sony 720 Receiver. This is a great entry level system. The bass is very deep and impactful yet dont completely drowned out the highs. It took me awhile to find the right combination of both highs and bass but once I got it down it sounds great. I have this all hooked up to my PS3 and Twister in 5.1 True HD was mind blowing! GREAT BUY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value and they sound terrific!, March 2, 2009

For under $300.00, these speakers are fabulous and rival similar sets that cost more. I have Polk RM5000 speakers in my home and purchased these for a gallery in my office (photography studio). The sound is superb, and aside from small details, they work great! I mounted these on the walls using the hanging slots on the back of them. I thought they were too big to use mounting brackets. The overall sound is more than acceptable using Star Wars Episode 3 as my test. The higher tones are not a crisp and I'm used to, but nonetheless, I am quite pleased with this purchase. I am also using an Yamaha surround sound receiver with the sound input coming from the optical TOSlink from my computer. The only CON/GRIPE that I have is that the speaker wires that came with it were thin, probably an 18-gauge and they were not very long. I prefer using a 12/14-gauge wire, especially in longer lengths. Aside from that, I would recommend this produce to anyone who is interested in having an affordable set of surround speakers that sound great!

These speakers are matched with a Yamaha RX-V365 receiver. I wanted a 'HD' sound to go with my HDTV, and these speakers deliver. All movies sound much better, but I was very impressed with the DTS sound on "SAVING PRIVATE RYAN", "MASTER AND COMMANDER", and "STEALTH".
Minor negatives- The speaker wire with this set is thin, consider upgrading to at least 16 gauge wire, and a larger gauge subwoofer wire. The subwoofer must be turned on and off manually, with the button behind the subwoofer.

Good sound quality and neat. Hiding the wires depending on location is a pain but these are good for a mid-range home theater.

I bought this speaker set at [..] to assemble my 7.1 speaker system with the Onkyo 607. I used the 4 small speakers as surround speakers and bought another 2 main front speakers. The bass is awsome at this price. The speaker wire is a little bit thin and not long for my 4 surround speakers, I got another very cheap 60 ft wire for [...] from[...] and found they are almost the same. I thought if the sound quality is not good I would double the wire for one speaker but it seems not necessary. The cheap surround system is good enough by my ears.
