I don't use it for a portable music player speaker (it's not very portable given that it doesn't have batteries), but i do use it for my laptop, and I'm very happy with its small size and sound quality. It's a little annoying that the cord between the laptop and the speaker limits its placement range to about 2 feet though.

The perfect complement for a laptop presentation, PowerPoint or iTunes, capable for a crowd of 50 in a classroom or small lecture hall; easy to pack, quick set-up, meets my needs!

Not stereo, and not good sound for music. But for basic youtube videos, basic computer sounds etc, it's a good speaker to take up far less desk space than the typical speaker. It's good at being what it's designed to be.

Thought I would try this out as I'm a Yamaha fan. Sound quality is good in the low-medium volume range, struggles a bit on the higher volumes. It's perfect for my plans of putting in the baby nursery with a Sonos player. Would like to see Yamaha doing a bigger brother version that can handle bass a little better and capable of pumping out a bit more.

I bought this product to use with my ipod shuffle. The shuffle doesn't have many speakers that are compatable with it that also have a great sound quality. I have been very impressed with this product so far. Again, great sound quality. Even when turned up to full blast, the speakers don't make that rattling sound. Small enough to cart around . . . we took it on vacation with us for the hotel room. Cord to connect the speaker to the ipod is a little short . . . however, I just use it on my desk at work, so it sits close by. Overall, I rate this an excellent product and would buy for family and friends. Price is very reasonable for the quality of the product.

These work great for my desk at work, sound is decent, the bass doesn't translate much but it doesn't irritate my co-workers either.
A bit expensive, even at appx $60. If you're using it for your apartment, the Panasonic foldups are better but they make a hiss so they tired my ears out at work.
OK I tried these for several months, ended up changing them for the JBL Creature, my cubicle walls absorb all the bass. They work better for a bedroom.

although it's not gonna satisfy audiophile's requirements, but for ordinary people who just want to listen to some audio, and not to take up too much desk space, it's a good speaker

Expections for this speaker need to be appropriate given its size. Having said that this speaker performs remarkably well. I have 2--both hooked up to my Sonos system for 2 pretty large rooms in the house. The bass output was better than I expected. The speakers are certainly able to fill rooms with music without any strain or distortion.

I was amazed at the sound quality. Given that most small, tabletop iPod speaker systems generally sound pretty lousy, I bought this one with low expectations. I was really impressed when I fired them up. For 60 bux, you can't get better.

This product is ideal if ure looking for compact and GOOD quality sound. The sound is awesome compared to other compact portable speakers. The only downside I could find is the sounds starts to jarr when I apply max input thru my ipod or Lappy. But u don expect this small magic box to work lik 7.1 or other High Tech stuf.also the BASS is quite good for its size..don be fooled by concluding the performance of the speaker by its size.
All in all lil on an expensive side but its worth the extra money u put in because it carries the brand name YAM.
So I do recommend this if ure looking for portable sound box..
