Enjoy Enhanced Sound Quality and Power from a Variety of Music Sources.

Bigger, better sound with no wires!
The Convenience of Bluetooth Wireless Technology
The NX-B02 is a convenient way to enjoy enhanced sound quality and power from a variety of music sources. Built-in Bluetooth wireless technology allows use with Bluetooth-compatible PCs, PDAs and mobile phones to a distance of 5 meters. It uses Bluetooth version 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) and supports A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), which allows the streaming of higher quality audio than previously.

Connect Portable Audio Players
A 3.5mm stereo mini jack is provided, for easy connection of non-Bluetooth portable audio players (MP3 players). This greatly expands listening possibilities and lets people use their favorite audio player.

Dual Speakers with Twin SR-Bass™ Diaphragm

Twin Swing Radiator Bass

Mini jack provided
Dual 1-3/4" full range speakers deliver rich sound. Each speaker also has an SR-Bass (Swing Radiator Bass™) diaphragm. The SR-Bass design uses a "swing radiator" diaphragm that moves by the vibration of the main diaphragm and efficiently increases bass energy. This produces larger sound pressure levels for deeper and stronger bass sound.

Handy Battery Operation
The NX-B02 can be operated by the power from four (4) AA batteries, so it can be used anywhere. Battery life is about four hours with alkali batteries and seven hours with nickel metal hydride batteries. An AC adaptor is also supplied.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great speaker, except when listening with bluetooth., April 26, 2008

This review is from: Bluetooth Speaker - Black (Personal Computers)
There is a subtle, high-pitched whine (briefly noted in CNET review) when using bluetooth. It's noticeable enough that you can't stop hearing it and makes listening to music impossible. It sounds surprisingly good, however, when using the line-in (but you could buy something similar, and a lot cheaper, if you don't care about bluetooth). I have a new phone (Blackberry Pearl 8130) and pairing was no problem. I called Yamaha and they were not aware of the problem, although I did have the rep read the CNET review. He said he would talk to the tech guys and get back to me. That was two weeks ago.
I am returning the Yamaha and have just recieved a Parrot "Party"Parrot PARTY Bluetooth® Stereo 2.0 Portable Soundbox. Interestingly, the Parrot sounds very good using bluetooth, but not as good using line-in. I'm keeping the Parrot.

1.0 out of 5 stars High pitched whine ruins it, July 29, 2008

This speaker is great when plugged in via the analog jack. When you're listening in bluetooth mode, however, there is a persistent high pitched whine that makes for an annoying and painful experience. What a tragedy that Yamaha Quality Control let this slide through.
It would be a great product if not for the bluetooth noise.
One star - I don't care how well it works via a hard connection. I bought it for the bluetooth functionality and cannot stand to use it in that mode.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Wireless Speakers, February 10, 2010

I will be upfront and let you all know that I have not ever used or encountered any other wireless speakers.
That being said, I was very pleased with the performance (sound quality), range, and ease of use of the Yamaha NX-B02. I have used it with my MacBook and iPhone and both devices quickly link up with the speaker and the speaker produces great sound that is perfect for smaller spaces and/or gatherings. I like to take the speaker into the kitchen with me when I'm cooking and leave my laptop out of harms way. That being said, it's not a 5 piece surround sound system. It gets a lot louder than laptop speakers but I wouldn't try to use it for like, a party or something.
