This review is from: Yamaha - Yamaha POCKETRAK CX (Electronics)
Yamaha Pocketrak cx is worth buying for the following reasons
a. its capability of recording sound quality in PCM 48Khz Wav b. built-in speaker c. ultra light weight d. storage upgradable to 4Gb micro sdhc card e. powerful stereo mics f. good quality earphones tripod connecting facility i recorded my music instrument sitar played by my teacher. When i heard the recording it had awesome clarity, as though the music instrument is being played in front of you. i used it for one of my audio voice-over recordings which turned out to be a very perfect recording device for such purposes too. Still checking out its other benefits..

There are plenty of reviews on the Pocketrak CX. As a discontinued product from Yamaha (succeeded by C24) it is available at a bargain price. The design of the CX is extremely well done, and can pick up low-level voices clearly across a 30 foot conference table. This speaks extremely well for the automatic gain control (AGC) which competitors at this level do not have. There is only one audio shadow in the rear. Clicking the buttons during the recording session does result in clicks in the recording, but this is audio pickup of the click. The eneloop battery does a great job of supplying long-lasting power for those 2-3 hour long meetings!
Don't expect to use the internal speaker. It allows you to check the recording, but it isn't for serious listening. It is expensive compared to voice recorders, but the difference is definitely worth it. |
